Looking back at our season, we are so thankful to be a part of a community that allowed us to share our routine before we performed it at Camp Hollywood!

Thank you Dabney and Karen for letting our first local performance be at your venue. We love performing at Hepkats because it has a great wooden floor and a fun, vintage dance crowd. Thank you for always being willing to let us test our material at your venues. For anyone who is interested in learning how to dance Lindy Hop, come check out their weekly venues. Lessons begin at 7:15pm.

The Kats Korner- Swingin Saturday Nights (2115 E Southern Ave, Mesa, AZ 85204)
Hepkats- Swingin Monday Nights (204 N Macdonald, Mesa, AZ 85201)

Our second local performance was at Arizona's very first Summer Swing Fest organized by Ashley Cohen Conner. The weekend had great live music, awesome instructors, and an amazing atmosphere thanks to everyone involved in organizing and to those who came out to support. This event is such a welcome addition to our yearly swing dance events here in AZ. Thank you for letting us be a part of it.

Thank you , Tony for letting our third local performance be at Galveston Elementary School! To see students light up and be excited about something that our team is passionate about was such an incredible feeling. Along with the energy from the students, we felt an amazing amount of support from the Galveston community as they cheered us on from the crowd. Thank you for allowing us to share our routine with you and the community during parent-teacher conferences. We look forward to collaborating with you again in the future!

Last but not least, thank you to Scootin' Boots for giving us our fourth and final local performance. Even though this venue specializes in country dance, they did not hesitate when we asked to perform a Lindy hop routine in the middle of a country swing night. Throughout the process, they were so generous in making sure we had everything we need (dress rehearsal space, sound systems, changing rooms, etc.) Scootin Boots offers a variety of dance styles throughout the week. We had an absolute blast performing this routine and we are so grateful to Hilary Alexander, James Bennett, Shana Worel, Brittney Caraway, Tim Woolfman, Brett Dahlenburg, Rachel Dahlenburg, Jennifer Reed, and the other people who made Camp Hollywood and this performance space possible.

A big thank you goes out to all the wonderful people in the room who celebrated movement and jazz with us live in the moment and made this performance a living breathing thing. You are the reason we wanted to work so hard to create something surprising and different. Thanks for being a part of it and giving back the same energy we put out. Performing should be a shared experience and an exchange of energy and joy. The Camp Hollywood audience delivered in spades!

Our goal was to bring some old school, Camp Hollywood energy to the stage while paying tribute to the roots of the dance and incorporating more modern body mechanics and partner dynamics. It was truly a group effort and was a reflection of many people’s voices and ideas.

It is always a privilege to represent Az and share our love for this Black art form with the wider swing dance community.

Teams are so special because we can achieve together what none of us can do alone.

Keep your eye open for announcements for next season. Big changes are coming to the Bomb Squad and PSP. We look forward to sharing more.
