Hope to see you all this Monday evening at
The Meraki Kava Bar
1601 E Bell Rd
Unit A3
Phoenix, AZ 85022
Monday March 3rd @ 7pm for our Monday night speaker series.

This Monday we welcome Jennifer N. Murphey, she is an attorney based in Oro Valley, Arizona, who has initiated a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of various federal and state drug control laws. Representing herself, she filed the case against the United States, Attorney General Merrick B. Garland, DEA Administrator Anne Milgram, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra, FDA Commissioner Robert M. Califf, and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes. The lawsuit seeks declaratory and injunctive relief, alleging that the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), the Arizona Controlled Substances Act (AZCSA), and international drug control treaties infringe upon her constitutional rights.

Case Background:

Murphey asserts that she personally cultivates, possesses, and uses substances such as psilocybin mushrooms, ayahuasca, iboga, ma*****na, and coca leaves within her home for personal healing and spiritual growth. She contends that the prohibition of these activities under the CSA, AZCSA, and related treaties violates her rights to personal and mental autonomy, free speech, and due process as protected by the U.S. Constitution.

Her case has been taken up the chain of courts through the appeal process and her next hearing is on April 1st. She will talk about the process and how this case could bring real change to the legal status of psychedelic substances if things go well.

5. After the extraction period, strain the alcohol and set it aside. Do not discard the mushrooms.

Step 2: Water Extraction (Decoction)
1. Take the strained mushrooms from the alcohol extraction and place them in a pot.
2. Add distilled water (about double the volume of mushrooms).
3. Simmer gently (not boil) for 2-3 hours, reducing liquid by half.
4. Let it cool, then strain the liquid.

Step 3: Combining the Extracts
1. Mix 2 parts alcohol extract with 1 part water extract.
2. Stir well and transfer the tincture into amber dropper bottles.

Dosage & Usage
• General immune support: 1-2 droppers full (1-2 ml) per day.
• Therapeutic purposes (e.g., gut health, adjunct cancer support): Up to 3 droppers full per day (consult a healthcare professional).

02/08/2025

Making a mushroom tincture involves a dual-extraction process to obtain both water-soluble and alcohol-soluble compounds from the mushrooms. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Materials Needed:
• Dried or fresh medicinal mushrooms (e.g., reishi, lion’s mane, chaga, turkey tail)
• High-proof alcohol (e.g., 80-190 proof vodka, rum, or grain alcohol)
• Distilled water
• Glass jars with lids
• Strainer or cheesecloth
• Knife or grinder
• Dropper bottles (for storage)

Step 1: Preparation
1. Chop or grind the mushrooms into small pieces (smaller surface area allows better extraction).
2. Measure the mushroom-to-liquid ratio (typically, a 1:5 ratio of mushrooms to liquid for fresh mushrooms or a 1:4 ratio for dried mushrooms).

Step 2: Alcohol Extraction (Tincture Phase 1)
1. Place the mushrooms in a clean glass jar.
2. Pour high-proof alcohol over the mushrooms, ensuring they are fully submerged.
3. Seal the jar and store it in a cool, dark place for 4-6 weeks, shaking it daily.
4. After the extraction period, strain out the alcohol and set it aside. Do not discard the mushrooms.

Step 3: Water Extraction (Decoction Phase 2)
1. Take the same mushrooms used in the alcohol extraction and place them in a pot.
2. Add distilled water (enough to cover the mushrooms, about 2-3 times the volume of the mushrooms).
3. Simmer on low heat (not boiling) for 2-4 hours until the liquid reduces by half.
4. Strain the mushrooms and allow the liquid to cool.

Step 4: Combining the Extracts
1. Mix the alcohol extract (from step 2) with the water extract (from step 3) in a ratio of about 2:1 (alcohol to water).
2. Stir well and transfer the tincture to amber glass dropper bottles for storage.

Step 5: Storage & Usage
• Store the tincture in a dark glass bottle in a cool, dark place.
• Label the bottle with the mushroom type, date, and extraction ratio.
• Use a dropper to take 1-3 droppers full (1-3 ml) per day, depending on the mushroom type.

Why Use a Dual Extraction?
• Alcohol extraction isolates triterpenes and other alcohol-soluble compounds.
• Water extraction isolates polysaccharides like beta-glucans, known for their immune-boosting properties.

This method ensures a potent, full-spectrum mushroom tincture for medicinal benefits.
