I learned silence young.
Not because I had nothing to say, but because speaking always came
with a cost.

As a woman in this country, I learned
how to measure my voice,
how to round the edges,
how to make
truth palatable,
how to survive rooms where power mistook volume
for authority.

And still,
I am afraid to speak.
But
I am more afraid not to.

Because something has shifted.

The quiet agreements we made with ourselves,
that justice would
inch forward,
that progress,
though slow,
was real,
have been
shaken awake.

What we fought for privately, peace inside our own bodies,
dignity earned
through healing,
the courage to be whole,
is now pressed against a public reality
where unjustified power
no longer whispers,
it declares.

I feel the loss in my chest. Not just of rights debated, but of trust fractured.
Of the illusion that restraint was safety.

There is grief in realizing that inner peace alone cannot shield us from systems willing to forget our humanity.

There is grief in knowing that goodness is not guaranteed
by time.

And yet this fear is not weakness…
It is awareness.
It is the body
recognizing truth
before language
catches up.

I do not speak because
I am fearless.

I speak because silence has begun to feel like consent.

Because staying quiet now costs more
than being seen.

This is not rage.
It is resolve born
from clarity.

So let us turn toward one another.
Not as sides,
not as slogans,
but as human beings who still remember
how to listen.

Let us protect what
is human before we argue over who is right.

Let us choose
courage together,
not in isolation,
not in purity tests,
but in shared responsibility.

This is a call to stand for dignity,
for restraint
over domination,
for humanity
over power.

To act where we can,
to speak where
it matters,
to refuse the slow erosion of compassion.

I am a woman awake to the weight of history,
standing at the edge of my own voice,
choosing it anyway.

I am not sure what comes next.
