Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs wants to regulate school choice out of existence 02/26/2024

School choice is under attack in Arizona. Families are being told they need to forgo the type of education that best suites their child's needs, so the state can "balance the budget". And then force them to go to a district/public school, that is already stressed. How does that make sense?

What is an School Tuition Education (STO)?

What is a Student Tuition Organization (STO) and how can the scholarships be used to make Private School affordable for families?

Certified School Tuition Organizations (STOs) are nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations established to receive income tax credit contributions (from individuals and corporations) that fund scholarships for students to attend qualified private schools (K - 12th) located in Arizona.

These scholarships are available to families of all income levels. The only requirement to receive tax credit funding is that your child is enrolled in an Arizona K-12th grade Private school.
Funding for scholarships comes from the tax credit donations of individuals and corporations.

This tax credit program allows thousands of families the opportunity to send their children to a private school of their choice - making a dollar-for-dollar tax donation to an STO is investing in the future of Arizona's children.

School Choice is under attack. Governor Hobbs budget wants to balance the budget by eliminating ONE of the many State Tax Credits - private school tax credit. If we want to see the budget balanced and we remove a tax credit, why just this one??? Because the goal is to eliminate STO tax credit scholarships for ALL families who have been helped in the past 25 year... which includes families with low incomes, disabilities. Thousands of students will be unable to attend the school of their choice and will now be forced to attend a government/district school. Is this the best for you family? Please share, like and join the fight!

It’s critical for us all to know what is happening! The proposed Gov Hobbs budget seeks to attack school choice!

For over 25 years, School Tuition Organizations (STOs) have helped thousands of students attend a private school of their choice because of the Private School Tax Credit Laws – Governor Hobbs wants to take this away from them! Many of these students would never have had the opportunity to receive a
private school education if it were not for the scholarships they received from the STOs.
The Governor’s proposal would seriously impact parents’ ability to choose and afford the best educational option for their students. Every student deserves to be in a learning environment that best meets their needs so they can succeed and parents are the ones who should make those decisions.

How to Take Action:
~Write or call your Legislators and urge them to oppose the proposed changes to the ESA and STO programs. Share your personal stories – they really do make a difference. If you do not know who your legislator is for your zip code, you can find it here.
~When you go to the ballot box in November, make sure you know where the candidates stand on the issue of School Choice. If Parental Choice and student success is important to you, please vote for candidates that support School Choice.
