The hardest part of fostering will always be the goodbyes.
~
Today, on Mother’s Day, I’m packing up our precious R & R room as they prepare to leave in the morning. To say we are shocked would be an understatement.
~
Just last week Nick and I were having conversations about permanency and guardianship… and now here we are navigating an unexpected goodbye.
~
This kind of loss isn’t unfamiliar to me after fostering many times back in NZ, but now I’m walking my husband and our kiddos through the grief that comes with loving deeply and letting go.
~
Fostering asks you to open your heart fully, even knowing it may break. But these children are always worth it.

5 ⭐️ words like this never get old… because behind them is a mama who was exhausted, overwhelmed, and just needed someone in her corner.
This sweet family went from contact naps, constant rocking, and broken nights… to a baby falling asleep independently 🙌🏼
But what matters most to me?
✨ Mom feeling like herself again
✨ Mental health improving
✨ Confidence replacing overwhelm
Sleep is never just about sleep. It’s about the whole family.
Yes—the first couple of weeks can feel hard. Change always is.
But on the other side? Peaceful nights, predictable days, and a baby who can do this 🤍
If you’ve been wondering if things can actually change… this is your sign.

Not enough people talk about how sleep deprivation in the early years impacts a mother’s mental health.
~
This mama came to me running on empty—pregnancy, postpartum, and then 9 months of broken sleep, waking every 30–60 minutes. The kind of exhaustion that slowly chips away at your health, your joy, and your ability to function.
~
And then… everything changed.
Within ONE night, her baby slept 12 hours.
~
This is why I do what I do. It’s not just about sleep—it’s about restoring mamas. It’s about giving families the foundation they need to thrive.
~
You were never meant to do this level of exhaustion alone 🤍

Night ✌️ update… and WOW 😭✨
I often say night two is about half the time of night one… but this little one had other plans 👏
Absolutely incredible progress.
Today’s naps were a little tricky — they opted for an assisted nap (which was a great call 🙌), but she only got 45 minutes. So we were really mindful of her maximum awake window and brought bedtime earlier to avoid that overtired spiral.
And look what happened… 👇
✨ Settled beautifully
✨ Just ONE wake-up
✨ Stood and cried for a couple of minutes… then re-settled herself
✨ Slept right through till morning
This is exactly why timing matters SO much in those early days of sleep training.
I’m honestly so grateful to walk alongside families like this one 🤍
This sweet girl turns TWO at the end of the month… and already:
✔️ Nearly fully night weaned
✔️ On track to be completely weaned within the next week
✔️ Learning the incredible skill of independent sleep
And the best part?
They get their evenings back.
They get their marriage time back.
They get REST.
Every single one of them — including her — is finally getting the sleep they truly deserve.

Night one with a 23-month-old ✨
Yes… it took 72 minutes to settle to sleep.
And that’s okay — not all first nights are easy, especially in the toddler years.
But here’s what matters 👇
For the very first time, this sweet girl fell asleep without nursing next to mama 🤍
And it didn’t stop there…
She didn’t just fall asleep independently — she linked her sleep cycles all the way through to 4:04am 🙌
When she woke, she stood and called out.
She got upset for 3 minutes… then chose to lay herself back down 💫
By the time I left at 6am — she was still fast asleep 😴
THIS is what progress looks like.
Not perfect. Not instant. But powerful.
Her parents and I are absolutely calling night one a success 🙌
And the best part? They’re not doing this alone — they have a clear plan for today, and continued support through tomorrow.
Because real change happens with guidance, consistency, and support 🤍
Waking 1–4 hours after bedtime? 🚩
That’s a false start… and it’s NOT random.
~
Overtired = higher cortisol
Higher cortisol = harder to settle + more night wakings
~
The biggest culprit?
👉 Staying awake too long before bed
~
If your nights feel like a cycle of false starts and exhaustion, your little one’s wake windows likely need a tweak.

Night one with this 14-month-old was nothing short of incredible ✨
We went from nursing + rocking to sleep, waking every 90–120 minutes, and co-sleeping out of pure exhaustion (only to still not sleep thanks to those busy little toddler movements 😅)…
➡️ To night one with a clear plan and in-home support, walking it out together every step of the way.
Cried for just 3 minutes… then slept.
First overnight wake? 1.5 minutes… then right back to sleep.
✨ YES, I work with toddlers & preschoolers — it’s never too late to build a strong sleep foundation.
This is what happens when families are supported, guided, and given the confidence to make big changes 💛
You don’t have to stay stuck in the cycle of exhaustion. There is a way forward.
DM me “SLEEP” if you’re ready to finally get your nights back 🙌

Any guesses which twin snuck in a car nap… and which one powered through? 😅
~
At 4 years old they usually don’t nap at all and sleep a solid 6:30pm–6:30am every night (praise the Lord for good sleep 🙌).
~
But every now and then, a late afternoon drive home hits just right… warm car, soft music, mama close by… and one little set of eyes can’t help but close.
~
What I love most is how in tune their bodies are. Even in a less-than-perfect sleep setup, cuddled up next to me, one drifts off peacefully while the other simply rolls with it — maybe a slightly later bedtime, but still steady and secure.
It’s such a sweet reminder that sleep isn’t about perfection… it’s about rhythm, trust, and listening to their little bodies. 🤍
