Our 🌏 2025–26 Humphrey Fellows had an engaging and insightful trip to Southern Arizona!

From exploring migration dynamics and border policy to experiencing the region’s vibrant culture, the journey was full of learning.

A highlight was the chance to connect and exchange perspectives with incredible U.S. journalists covering some of today’s most important topics.

We couldn’t be more excited to welcome 🎉the 2025 - 26 Humphrey Fellows, an extraordinary group of media leaders from twelve countries across the globe. 🌏

Thank you to our faculty, mentors, global friends, and the Cronkite and ASU community. Together, we’re fostering a year of growth, leadership, and transformative impact across borders.

🕊️ In Loving Memory of Emmanuella Dago-Akribi (Humphrey Fellow 2022–2023) 🕊️

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Emmanuella Dago-Akribi, a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellow from Côte d'Ivoire for the 2022–23 year.

From the very first email she sent to her cohort, Emmanuella's warmth, passion, and purpose shone through. She introduced herself with pride in her country, a sense of humor about chocolate, and a strong commitment to public service. "Better communication for better care," she wrote—a guiding belief she carried into her journalism, development, and public health work.

At home, she served her country tirelessly through the Government Information and Communication Center, lending her voice to vital causes such as health emergency response and community engagement. While in the U.S., she made lasting connections, shared her brilliance, and uplifted those around her with her curiosity, faith, and humor.

To us, she was Manu—a passionate professional, a thoughtful classmate, and a bright spirit. We will miss her deeply and strive to carry forward the light she brought into this world.

Rest in peace, dear Manu. 💛

Today, The Hubert H Humphrey Fellowship Program at Arizona State University fellows had the privilege of meeting Adelaida Velasco Severson, a remarkable supporter of the Humphrey Fellowship Program at ASU and a proud Cronkite alumna. 🎓✨

Adelaida earned an M.M.C. in mass communication from the Cronkite School in 1995 and later a Ph.D. in Public Administration in 2006. Her dedication to Cronkite and the Humphrey Fellows has been unwavering, and her support continues to make a lasting impact.

The meeting was filled with engaging, thoughtful, and inspiring conversations. Fellows had the opportunity to learn from her experiences, insights, and unwavering commitment to education and global leadership. 🌍💡

A huge thanks to Adelaida Severson for her continuous support and to our Humphrey Fellows for their deep engagement and meaningful dialogue. 🙏

From media sustainability to challenges of transparency and integrity, Cronkite Professor Julia Wallace shared insights into the U.S. landscape before leading an engaging panel of ASU Humphrey Fellows— Людмил Каравасилев (Bulgaria), Emese Dudics (Hungary), Jean Paul Ibambe (Rwanda), and Nkosikhona Dibiti (Zimbabwe)—who shared perspectives from their countries.

ASU Humphrey Fellows Oumar Zombre and Bojana Dabovic, in collaboration with PRSSA at ASU, visited the Allison Worldwide office in Scottsdale.
The visit provided an excellent opportunity to gain valuable insights into PR strategies, shadow professionals, and participate in a creative brainstorming session. This is just one way to connect classroom learning with real-world applications!

The Humphrey Fellows from Arizona State University volunteered at Andre House of Arizona, highlighting our commitment to cultural exchange and community engagement initiatives.

Through this meaningful experience, we embraced the values of service, compassion, and collaboration, fostering connections and giving back to the community.
