Ocotillo Elementary School

During the month of April, Mrs. George and Mrs. Taylor spoke with all 5th graders about the new role of Student House Leader. These students will serve as ambassadors, mentors, and leaders for their house. They will work with the staff house leaders to plan and prepare for house meetings as well as support school functions as student leaders. All 5th graders were invited to apply for the position. Twenty-one students completed the application and passed to the interview round where they had to articulate their ideas and goals for the position.

Ms. Fair’s 3rd grade class enjoyed hands on learning as with a sunscreen project! Each student used sunscreen to draw on paper. Then the papers were hung in direct sunlight to see if the sunscreen works. It was a great reminder to protect our skin in the summer!

Congratulations to the House of Onraka for winning the 4th quarter! We loved celebrating them with a glow party during the last week of school. They definitely “put them paws on ‘em” to finish the year.

Summer is coming! Please take note of when the office will be closing and reopening in July.

Our Bulldogs have talent!! Each year we are blown away by what our students bring to the stage. Thank you to everyone who participated and big thanks to Ms. Lastra and Ms. Fox for holding auditions, practices, and coordinating the show!

We’ve had so many things exciting happening over the last few weeks that we haven’t been able to post it all so we will be throwing it back for the next few days to get caught up!

Congratulations to our 54 English learners who tested proficient on the AZELLA test! We are so proud of all your hard work!

Summer meals! Children can come to Ocotillo during the scheduled times for breakfast and lunch. If your child is in summer school, breakfast and lunch are included.

Today our staff closed the school year with a breakfast where each team shared their celebrations. We also “showered” Miss Anderson as she’s getting married in a few weeks. Time to laugh together and reflect on the year was the perfect way to spend our last day together!
