Make an Impact During Malnutrition Awareness Wee!!
Malnutrition Awareness WeekTM is ASPEN’s annual campaign to educate healthcare professionals and consumers on the detection, intervention, and treatment of malnutrition. Here are some ways you can participate.
➡️Ask your organization to become an official MAW ambassador and take the lead in educating colleagues, patients, and community. ASPEN provides you with promotional and educational resources, including tips for organizing MAW activities at your institution. And there is no cost to become an ambassador.
➡️Write and submit an op-ed to your local newspaper.
➡️Hold a MAW event at your institution.
➡️Hold a MAW event with your local ASPEN chapter.
➡️Volunteer to create educational tools and resources. Email [email protected].
Sign up for MAW webinars. They’re free to ASPEN members and ambassadors. Many offer CE credits!
Tell us how you will be participating in MAW?

Spotlighting a new practice tool for clinicians developed by an AZSPEN member!
NEW!!! The American Society for Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition has a new podcast episode with Dr. Christina Valentine, “DHA Supplementation for Lactating Mothers of Preterm Infants,” which not has a companion practice tool. http://ow.ly/GzXI50MlYIu
Dr. Valentine’s research has shown that 1000 mg of DHA taken daily by the mother decreases preterm infant inflammation through human breast milk ingestion, and a higher dose during pregnancy may reduce the risk of preterm birth.
Special thanks to Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition for support of the podcast and practice tool.
