🌍✨ 1st Grade Culture Rotations! ✨🌍
As part of our 1st Grade IB unit on how family origins shape who we are, our students spent the past two days exploring Culture Rotations! Each class visited all of the 1st-grade rooms, where they were introduced to a different country and its unique traditions. Students learned about inventions, foods, flags, and customs—and even created a special craft at each stop.
We love watching our students celebrate global perspectives, curiosity, and connection! 💛🌎📚

Over the last two days we welcomed Grand Canyon Reader Award nominated author Dianne White to Simis! She spoke with students about her journey as a writer and how ordinary, everyday moments can spark story ideas. Students also gained insight into the book-making process and the collaboration between authors and illustrators. Dianne encouraged our students to live like writers by observing the world around them, keeping a notebook of ideas and wonders, and writing—something—every day!
