Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is REAL!! Please don’t ignore the signs. If you suspect you have it, consult with a therapist (like myself) or any doctor or professionally trained mental health clinician who deals specifically with PTSD. Diagnosing it and treating it is crucial to overcoming it. Therapist trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will work with you on developing and achieving your goals. Remember, it’s a Trauma-Focused approach where the event is at the center of treatment. Not everyone can do this. So please, make an appointment with a mental health professional who can help you overcome PTSD.

Please check out the article in the from and see how funeral directors are passionate about ending gun violence in Philadelphia. We have to get everyone involved, working collectively to bring attention to the pandemic of gun violence. We see and hear about it everyday— the streets, social media, traditional media, and word of mouth. We have become so desensitized to homicides— until it hits home. This is where funeral directors come in. Read their story and how they want to bring light to gun violence. (Praying4Peace) 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Can I ask millennials and Gen-Z a question? When you go out, do you still dance with a partner? It’s seems that all I see when songs are twerk music songs. I know it’s ur generation and that’s cool. But, man!! Dancing was soo much fun!! On the floor, none stop until u can’t catch ur breath! Shirt all drenched! Not trying to holler or anything...drop it a time or two. But it was just the energy of the music. Songs that made you get up! Peter Piper, Black Sheep, treat’em Right, Ownleeyou; , Dougie Fresh/ Slick Rick; poison; Even in Philly with EST Greatest Man Alive, Cool C Glamorous Life, We don’t Play, My part of town .. and with Brand New Funk, Flipside. Man!!! Just dancing! Pure fun. No need to twerk! Come to the party and sweat ya hair out ladies!!! Heels on shoes broke!! Makeup running!! It means you had an great time!!!!!! I miss those days! No need to be hard core walking around looking threatening, holding up the wall gettin mad! Ladies looking cool, dancing and not worrying about a thing! No model posing or worrying about the next chick and just focusing on looking good— sitting down all night! Nah... Stinger, Gotham’s, Cat Club, 5 Spot, Scooters up a West Philly, Broad and Erie (forgot the name)... The Wynn Plaza, 3rd Story, Palmers, Upper Deck... the list goes on!! All love . All fun!

Trying to have a civilized conversation with some young people can be brutal. Always on the defensive, unable to comprehend basic logic and reasoning; terrible communication skills. The one thing that I always knew as a child was to show respect and humility to people older than me – regardless if they were right or wrong. Moreover, I would never use bad, suggestive, or foul language. When I engage young people, I have learned never to talk down to them, but to talk with them and listen. Maybe I’m just venting. Idk. I just had someone use vulgar and threatening language and they clearly failed to comprehend what was actually being said. That for me is disheartening, but I still won’t stop fighting to help young folks. Something happened throughout the course of their lives for them to feel and talk in such an aggressive, disrespectful manner. I won’t hold that against them. In fact, I will pray in hopes that someone will take the time to mentor them accordingly. It is not easy but it must be done. I was blessed to have my father, my mother, my teachers, and my village elders to correct me when I was wrong and to support me when I did good. I remember after every report card at the end of the year going up to a Woolworths store to get a graduation book, taking it around to everyone in the neighborhood, showing off my last report card and for them to sign the book and give me a gift, which was usually money. I felt that I owe them just stay on the straight path. This is why we cannot close our doors, and shutters or windows closed when we know our neighbors child are doing something inappropriate. We need to village back. ✊🏾
