What will the Class of 2026 miss most after graduation? 🎓
From living near their friends to challenging themselves in classes to exploring Philadelphia and beyond, here’s what , , and students shared before they walked across the stage. 💙❤️
The Wharton School
The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania – the world's first collegiate business school.
Founded in 1881 as the world’s first collegiate business school, the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania remains guided by Joseph Wharton’s original vision: using analytical expertise to produce well-rounded leaders to drive societal progress. As we continue our quest for positive global impact, the Wharton Way serves as our philosophical North Star with three areas of focus – elevati
Student speaker Derek Hedbany (WG’26) urged his fellow Wharton MBA Program for Executives classmates not to let their sense of community and valuing of diverse perspectives end at graduation.
He encouraged the Class of 2026 to be “smugglers” by carrying their cohorts' spirit beyond their time in the program and into the the rest of their careers.
“We spent two years building a fire. But a fire contained is eventually smothered. We didn’t build it to stay warm; we built it to carry it. … And we leave Wharton ready to refract that light into the darkest corners of the world.”
“The leaders who will matter most in the next decade are not the ones who are best at using AI. They are the ones who are most curious about what AI cannot answer.”
During his keynote speech to our MBA Program for Executives Class of 2026, Ikdeep Singh (WG’07), Global President, Mars, Incorporated Pet Nutrition, underscored the importance of human curiosity.
As artificial intelligence disrupts industries and markets, Ikdeep urged graduates to stay curious, ask questions, challenge assumptions, and find "the courage to build what doesn't exist yet."
At this year’s graduation ceremony, David Solomon, Chairman and CEO of Goldman Sachs, spoke to the Class of 2026 about opportunity, optimism, and the enduring value of staying true to your core principles in a rapidly changing world.
As technology reshapes industries and creates new possibilities as well as uncertainties, he reminded graduates that embracing your personal values in the midst of such change is essential to leaving a legacy you’ll be proud of.
“Over my 42-year career, I’ve found there are certain core values that transcend shifts in technology and culture. And if you work at them, they’ll not only help you strive for excellence and capture opportunity — they’ll give you a better chance of looking back when you’re older and being satisfied with how you’ve spent your time."
The values he highlighted:
1️⃣ Growth: "Embrace criticism. Be open to change."
2️⃣ Commitment: "Choose to show up when it matters — both in business and in your personal life."
3️⃣ Connection: "Invest in people and relationships."
4️⃣ Passion: "Cultivate what fuels you, and don't let it go."
During her speech to the Class of 2026, Azeeza Hasan (WG’26) reflected on what many students were “in search of” throughout their MBA journeys: personal leadership styles, experiential learning opportunities, and ways to push themselves out of their comfort zones.
Azeeza encouraged her fellow classmates to carry that spirit of curiosity and growth forward as they leave campus and start new careers.
“ISO is not just a Wharton behavior; it is a life posture.”
Mattel CEO Ynon Kreiz (PAR’26) highlighted Barbie the Movie as an example of originality during his keynote speech to the Class of 2026.
While the movie made Hollywood executives nervous due its lack of comparable projects from the past, it went on to receive eight Academy Award nominations and was the highest-grossing film of the year.
“If you are looking for precedents, you will not be the one setting them," said Kreiz.
In her address to the Class of 2026, student speaker Shreya Krishnan (W’26) encouraged her fellow classmates to remember three things as they embark on their post-grad lives:
1️⃣ The risks and choices you make every day compound over time
2️⃣ Your actions, not your resume, define your value proposition
3️⃣ Your relationships will yield the most meaningful ROIs

In honor of , we’re spotlighting Lauren Gonzalez (WG’26), a mom to three young boys and a soon-to-be graduate of our MBA Program for Executives.
A Project Manager at Shell, Lauren started the program with a 3- and 1-year-old, knowing she and her husband hoped to grow their family. “I never saw school and family as taking turns,” she says.
Her first experience with Wharton set the tone. Knowing that she would need to pump breastmilk at orientation while her baby was home in Texas, she notified the administration in advance.
“When I arrived, there was a mini fridge in my room and a map of lactation rooms on campus,” she says. “That level of thoughtfulness made everything feel more manageable from day one.”
When she welcomed her youngest child during her second year in the program, it brought her closer to her classmates – especially the other women in her cohort who also had babies during the program.
“We supported each other,” she says. “My classmates would ask for updates and were genuinely excited for us.”
Thanks to a supportive partner, encouraging classmates, and strong sense of organization, Lauren was able to balance her career, education, and family life. Throughout the program, she was able to participate in immersive experiences like Global Business Week, Global Modular Courses, and Block Weeks while building deep relationships across WEMBA cohorts and classes.
“As a parent, you’re already managing a thousand moving parts,” she says. “Wharton builds on that strength. It’s one more thing to plan for — but parenthood doesn’t hold you back here; it prepares you. And if it’s something you truly want, you’ll find a way to make it happen.”

As Kampton Kam (W’26) prepares to graduate next week, he’s weighing a major choice: accept a job offer in mergers and acquisitions or pursue his chance to join Team Singapore at the Los Angeles 2028 Summer Olympics.
A high jumper on the University of Pennsylvania’s Track & Field team, Kampton is a First Team All-American. He has broken the Singapore National Record six times, is a back-to-back Penn Relays champion, and is a three-time Ivy League Conference champion.
In addition to his athletic prowess, Kampton is also, in true Wharton fashion, very good at finance. While practicing for more than three hours a day, managing coursework, and breaking records, he also found time to prepare for a career in investment banking and holds a return offer in M&A after completing a summer internship last year.
The resources available to Kampton as a Penn student – Penn Athletics' training and Wharton's finance education, clubs, and industry connections – have in many ways helped place him in his current position. They also may provide a solution.
Inspired by Kampton’s determination to follow his dreams, some faculty have helped him explore whether there is a potential path that challenges the notion that he must choose between the two.
“I have this institution backing me,” he said. “My friends here, the faculty here: They’re all seeing me chasing this dream, and then also helping me. It’s a privilege to represent Wharton.”
As he navigates the next steps in his journey, Kampton reflects on the support and encouragement he’s received from his on-campus community: https://whr.tn/4tk376E

A group of students recently participated in an Industry Immersion Pop-Up Project with The Philadelphia Orchestra, working with students from the Curtis Institute of Music to tackle a defining challenge for many classical music institutions: how to remain viable in a world shaped by speed, novelty, and fragmented attention without compromising artistic integrity.
Over the course of two days, student teams worked together to redesign the Orchestra experience in ways that maintain the strengths of the institution and help it to adapt in a changing cultural environment.
They gained insight into the industry’s current landscape through lectures and panel discussions with Ryan Fleur, President & CEO, Philadelphia Orchestra and Ensemble Arts; David Bahanovich, Associate Provost of the Curtis Institute of Music; Cait Lamberton, Vice Dean and Director of the Wharton Undergraduate Division; Simon Woods, CEO and President of the League of American Orchestras; Yumi Kendall, Philadelphia Orchestra Assistant Principal Cello; and other orchestra leaders.
At the project’s end, student teams presented to a panel of judges, including Prof. Jerry Wind, the Philadelphia Inquirer's Peter Dobrin, and the Philadelphia Orchestra’s Geoff Cohen and Jeremy Rothman. The winning team will continue developing its idea during a short internship.
