Here is a simpler way to reform Congress and our government without the necessity a new platform with hundreds of detailed reforms; What would we think about a brand new law redefining free-speech? How about ... if free-speech had to be truthful ... or ... fully disclosed that it was mere opinion, who's opinion it was and who paid for its dissemination? This kind of rule would ruin an ad agency's bottom line, wreck Wall Street's business plan, make high tech heads spin at Google, Facebook and Twitter, etc ... make it very difficult for politicians to pull the wool over the eyes of their constituents or to get rich doing what ordinary citizens would be jailed for doing. Required truth would cause masses of attorneys to change profession. Not all would agree, but … I think … Shakespeare was spot-on about lawyers! Others might want to add your own ideas of how our lives might be improved by pure, unmitigated and unrelenting truth in Washington. After this ... we might discuss honor, ethics ... or ... even ... kindness! We could discuss punishment for dishonesty and rewards for truly representing the people. Somehow ... we've got to change the subject to something more appropriate to the future of mankind than allowing liars to scramble our brains and churn our stomachs with absolute and undeniable falsehoods while purposefully failing to address our many concerns about our democracy, our economy and the questionable viability of our planet. Can’t we make much needed reform an attainable objective? Just what would the down-side be of never being lied to again?

For those of my friends, and for those that knew FRED HAYES' ... it is with great sorrow that I must tell you that he has passed in Norway of a lung infection. Many of you know that he was one of my oldest friends. You don't know that he was one of my closest friends. He believed in democracy and did something about it. Ingerid is doing as well as could be expected under the circumstances. This might be a great place to collect Fred stories in his memory.
