On Wednesday, November 19th, we were honored to welcome Andre Kittrell, Justin Peoples, and Michael Rock to speak with Wharton MBA students about how college-in-prison programs shifted their perspectives and supported their reentry. Thank you for an impactful conversation!

On October 16th, Penn PERI partnered with cinéSPEAK to host a film screening of Daughters, a moving feature documentary about four young girls preparing for a Daddy/Daughter Dance with their incarcerated fathers through a fatherhood program in a Washington, D.C. jail.

“Civic House in conjunction with Freedom Side School hosted a screening of the highly emotional documentary,” explains Rell, the Community Engagement Coordinator at CH. “It was a beautiful turnout and not a dry eye in the building.”

Meet the amazing Office Assistants that make Civic House a home away from home for all of us! Not only do our OAs help run and manage day-to-day operations at the office, they are also scholars with an understanding of our Social Justice Framework who are actively engaged in their communities.

Want to learn more about Civic House and its programs? Come to our Open House on Tuesday, September 16! Food, SWAG, and activities will be provided. Staff members and students will be around to answer any questions you may have about becoming a part of the Civic House community.

Civic House is looking to hire Comms Assistants to help us around the office and run our social media and newsletters.

This is an undergraduate work-study position that pays $13 hourly for a 10 hours a week commitment.

On Saturday, December 14th, we were honored to support Moder Patshala’s Annual Volunteer Appreciation Celebration here on Penn’s campus. This event celebrates the incredible contributions of tutors, students, families, and community members who make their work possible, supporting Bangladeshi-American families in West Philadelphia. The event kicked off with a drawing contest for students, followed by certificates for volunteers and words of gratitude from community members!

Thank you Moder Patshala for the work you do in our ongoing partnership. Thank you to for the Campaign for Community Grant that helped to make this event possible.
