Today, on Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice is a solemn reminder of the cost of freedom: One that can never be repaid, only remembered with gratitude and respect.

May we take a moment of reflection, hold space for their memory, and honor the legacy they leave behind.

In honor of Memorial Day, our young learners created thoughtful memorial collages while practicing their cutting and fine motor skills in the classroom. More importantly, they were given the opportunity to learn the meaning of remembrance, sacrifice, and gratitude for the brave individuals who gave their lives in service to our country.

Art plays a vital role in early childhood education because it encourages creativity, emotional expression, focus, and developmental growth.

It may have been a hot day outdoors this week, but we found a fun and creative way to keep learning going safely inside.

Our young chefs at Paley enjoyed a hands-on culinary activity by making pizzas together as a class, selecting their favorite toppings and learning through every step of the process. Culinary experiences in early childhood education support fine motor development, improve hand-eye coordination, encourage listening skills, and help children become more open to trying new foods and flavors.

We are beyond excited for our young learners on Move-Up Day as they officially take the next big step into kindergarten! 🎓✨

Today, we’re celebrating every child across our FELS Centers, especially at Lassin and Paley - including the young learners supported through our Head Start and Pre-K Counts programs, which help provide children and families with access to high-quality early learning and support.

Watching these students grow, learn, and shine has been such a joy, and we cannot wait to see all the places they will go next. Their journey is only beginning, and the future is brighter because of them.

Philadelphia’s heat wave is here, and temperatures are expected to stay high throughout the week. Help our young learners stay safe by sending them in lightweight clothing, encouraging regular water breaks, and limiting long periods in direct sunlight. Small steps can make a big difference during extreme heat. 💧🧢☀️
