💜 Purple Day brought out some of our brightest smiles! Our young learners and staff members showed off their favorite purple outfits while exploring the wonderful world of color together.

Creative outfit choices encouraged self-expression, decision-making, and confidence, while learning about color supported observation, communication, and early cognitive development. It was a simple way to make learning colorful, creative, and fun! 💜

Wishing all who are observing a meaningful and reflective Yom Kippur. 🕯️

Yom Kippur, a Jewish holy day known as the Day of Atonement, is a time for prayer, reflection, seeking forgiveness, and thinking about how we treat one another. These ideas can resonate at every age, as children learn to understand others’ feelings, work through disagreements, make amends, and recognize that each day brings a new opportunity to make a kind choice.

At FELS, kindness, empathy, responsibility, and community are part of children’s everyday learning. Whether or not your family observes Yom Kippur, these are values we can all carry with us.

May this day bring peace, healing, and renewed hope to all who observe.

🍎🍯 Shanah Tovah u’Metukah! שנה טובה ומתוקה

Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, is a time for reflection, hope, and new beginnings. For children, its lessons come to life through everyday moments of learning, kindness, and trying again.

Our FELS Centers welcomed Rosh Hashanah with creativity, tradition, and plenty of sweetness! At Gutman, our children enjoyed a special visit from former FELS VP of Operations David Minkoff, who played the shofar in celebration. At K’tonton, our young learners tasted apples and honey and celebrated Shabbat together, sharing wishes for a sweet New Year.

Through these joyful experiences, our children explored Rosh Hashanah traditions while celebrating values of kindness, gratitude, community, and growth.

Wishing all who celebrate a sweet and meaningful New Year, and all our FELS families a year filled with kindness, learning, and joy! 🍎🍯

What is Rosh Hashanah, and why is it important? Our young artists explored the history and traditions of the Jewish New Year while learning how Jewish families mark this meaningful holiday. They then made their own apples, connecting a timeless tradition with creativity and hands-on learning.

For over a century, Federation Early Learning Services (FELS) has been built on a foundation of Jewish values and traditions, giving our children meaningful ways to learn, create, and carry those traditions forward.

Our young Pre-K Counts learners enjoyed an exciting introduction to martial arts with Action Karate! They learned the importance of staying active while practicing balance, self-defense, and proper kicking and punching techniques. 🥋

Experiences like these help children build confidence, coordination, discipline, and healthy habits while introducing them to extracurricular activities that can inspire an active lifestyle for years to come.

The big smiles and sense of accomplishment afterwards said it all! Thank you, Action Karate, for visiting our Early Learning Center and showing our children the wonders of martial arts!

🎒 It’s officially back-to-school time! As we begin a new academic year, preparation is especially important in early childhood education. A smooth start helps children feel secure, supports consistent routines, and creates the foundation for a successful year of learning and growth.

From getting school supplies ready to reestablishing daily routines, a little preparation can make a big difference. We’re beyond excited to welcome our children, families, and educators back and see all that the 2026–2027 academic year has in store! 💜📚

Making the most of the dog days of summer before the school year officially begins! Our young learners are staying cool with water play, soaking up the sunshine, and keeping their bodies moving. Outdoor experiences support vitamin D production, coordination, balance, strength, and early athletic development while encouraging sensory exploration and active learning. A fun, healthy way to enjoy summer and build momentum for the year ahead! 🌊🏃🏽‍♀️
