GROW offers English classes (ESL) for adults in Northeast Philadelphia.
. Our volunteers come from 51 different churches across the Greater Philadelphia Area.

We are united in our mission to help immigrants thrive. GROW is proud to serve the growing international community through a fun and effective ESL program for adults, helping our neighbors and friends to become more proficient in the English language and be prepared for US citizenship. Because of God's love and sacrifice giving us new life, we are eager to share our life, time, and love with those around us!

Congratulations, GROW Students! 💙

Last week, at both Mayfair and Bustleton, we celebrated our adult students and all of their hard work with end-of-year ceremonies. There were speeches, songs, food, and fellowship. Learning English takes courage and perseverance, and our students show both every single day as they work toward new opportunities for themselves and their families. We are so proud of all they have accomplished!

One of our favorite things is celebrating the successes of our students!

One of our Level 3 students, Aziza, took an exciting step and started her own bakery business! 🎂🧁 She is incredibly talented. We are so proud of her hard work, creativity, and determination.

If you’re looking for a cake or baked treats for a birthday, graduation, wedding, baby shower, or other special occasion, we’d love for you to support her growing business.

Check her out on Instagram!

Congratulations, Aziza! 👏

“I did this for my kids.”

I’ll never forget a conversation I had with one of our GROW moms, sitting beside the pool one summer as our children splashed and played together.

Lila* had immigrated here from North Africa. In her home country, she served in organizational leadership, and her husband owned a construction company. They had a beautiful home near the sea. But as their country continued to face economic crisis, they began to worry about the future of their children.

Since immigrating to the USA, Lila and her husband have struggled to make ends meet, as the cost of living here is much higher. They have been learning English in hopes of finding better employment and rebuilding their lives.

“We left everything behind. I miss my country, my community, and my family. Some days I cry a lot. But I didn’t do this for me; I did it for my kids. Here, they will get a good education and have opportunities for the future. As moms, we do anything for our children…”

To the immigrant moms who have given much and loved much: you are our heroes. Today, we honor you. May the Lord bless you and keep you. 💕

Happy Mother's Day from all of us at GROW!

This Saturday, we had an amazing time at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, thanking our amazing volunteers for all they’ve given this year. GROW is made possible through our wonderful volunteer ESL teachers, teaching assistants, childcare helpers, and door greeters! 😊🙌

A big thank you to everyone who made the night special, and to New Life Dresher Church for hosting us!
