“DPhiE has impacted my college career in so many ways, I could never thank the organization enough for how it has changed my life.”

There is joy in finding a career in something that you’re good at and something that you love. Carly Joaquin is looking to do just that. With the help of the Education Foundation, Carly is pursuing her MBA in accounting in an accelerated 5-year program. Her big dream is to work in the cosmetic industry as an internal auditor or in managerial accounting. During her time in Delta Phi Epsilon, she led her sisters on her leadership teams and expanded her reach by attending our International Leadership Forum.

“I have the peace of mind to focus on student teaching and learning how to be the best person and teacher I can be.”

The Education Foundation is allowing our sisters to experience new ways of learning. For Holly Smith, the opportunity to finish her last seven weeks of student teaching in a foreign country. Currently, she is majoring in English and English education with a minor in sociology at the Psi chapter at the University of Georgia.

It is #FoundationFriday! This week's highlighted recipient is Amber Bell.

“Being a sister of Delta Phi Epsilon has taught me how to be my true, authentic self in college.”

At Emory University, Amber is majoring in Biology and Mathematics and hopes to attend medical school after her undergraduate career so that she can pursue a life of being a pediatric oncologist. The Education Foundation is helping Amber get one step closer to her ultimate goal.

Happy Foundation Friday! This week we are featuring recipient Kelsey Walsh.

“To me, this scholarship is yet another way that my sisters are giving me support and encouragement to keep on dreaming to achieve my goals”

Medical professionals are people who will touch the lives of just about everyone on earth and it takes courage, resilience, and leadership to fulfill such a role. Kelsey Walsh exhibits all of these. She has not only served on her Leadership Team in Delta Phi Epsilon, served as president for Order of Omega, and the Vice President of Recruitment for Panhellenic at SIUE, she is also double majoring in Nursing and Public Health. Her receiving this scholarship allows her to thrive on the leadership opportunities she has while being able to put less focus on paying for her degrees. She hopes to use her education to become a Pediatric Oncologist.

Today we are featuring sister Ceara Genovesi,

Ceara Genovesi is heading for greatness in the direction of a Master’s program in Art Therapy. She will be heading to the School of Visual Arts in NYC and this scholarship is allowing her this privilege. Ceara wants to personally give a shout out to the Beta Psi chapter at Brandeis University because without them, she would not be where she is today.

Holly is an early childhood education major studying at Webster University She is very honored to be able to receive and use this scholarship to further her education. By doing so she will be able to work and better understand children so that she can encourage them to reach their dreams.

This weeks highlighted recipient is Valeria Gomez Palacios!

Valeria Gomez Palacios is a Master of International Affairs candidate at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs studying Economic and Political Development. She is a European Commission/One Young World Peace Ambassador and previously served as an NGO Youth Representative to the United Nations.

She holds a Bachelors in Diplomacy and International Affairs from Seton Hall University, has been published in Foreign Policy Journal and Global Public Policy Watch and is fluent in French, German, Spanish, English and Italian. In College, Delta Phi Epsilon gave her a platform to become a leader through her various leadership roles within the sorority, and it is an honor to be a recipient of the foundation’s scholarship so that she can carry these skills into the world.

Our last featured recipient is Jessica Hickam who “looks forward to implementing all that I learn to help make our education system more effective and geared toward shaping young women and men for a brighter future.”

Furthering a career while in a career is a challenging task to overcome but for Jessica Hickam, Education Foundation Scholarship Recipient, the task is more manageable with less worry about finances. Hickam, who is a 7th-grade mathematics teacher, is pursuing her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction so that she is able to better serve her students. She is thankful for this scholarship and is looking forward to implementing all that she learns as she strives to make the education system more effective and geared towards shaping young women and men for brighter futures.

This week's featured recipient is Chiquita McCoy-Crisp, “I consider myself incredibly lucky to have found this empowering community of women who encourage me to pursue my passions and grow as a leader."

Sometimes all it takes to achieve dreams is a little extra love and support from those who want to watch you succeed. Chiquita McCoy-Crisp, a rising senior at Brandeis University studying biochemistry and biology with a minor in health: science, society and policy, considers herself very lucky to be surrounded by women who push her to be the best person she is. The unyielding support of her sisters paired with the educational foundation scholarship has given her the confidence to continue to strive for her ultimate career in medicine.

Our featured recipient this week is Shruti Gujaran, she is an alumna of the Phi Chi chapter at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology. Currently, she is attending the University of Maryland School of Medicine with hopes of becoming an infectious disease specialist or an obstetrician. Delta Phi Epsilon had a profound impact on Shruti, inspiring her to become involved in the local community in Baltimore. With the help of this scholarship, she hopes to continue on her journey through medical school with a community-oriented focus and proudly represent DPhiE.
