Finding the Pride and the connection at . Nexion Travel Group ‘s annual conference has changed for me over the years: while I’m still learning and catching up on the travel trends, I value the relationships with peers, leaders and partners: it’s a gift. I hosted our 2nd Annual Travel with Pride mixer at Oilcan Harry's promoting Equality Texas and OutYouth, champions doing the work in the local community, while asking our industry to advocate more and do more for the LGBTQ+ community. We brought in delicious food from q***r owned Patika and Mexican owned ONETACO. Taquería. We expected around 60 guests and we grew to almost 100 (that’s about 1/6 of the entire conference!! 🥸). I met a longhorn named Chuck and cuddled with Harry the unicorn. I had the opportunity to co-lead a workshop called the Allyship Itinerary to inspire and help advisors become more inclusive with their business start to end 🌈.
To good friends and new friends, the high fives and deep hugs, Texas is many things and I am grateful we made it a little bouncier and brighter.

Gettysburg was surprising in so many ways. Going in despite my brief moment in high school as a civil war reenactor, I knew nothing about this battle nor the town. I was humbled by the history as we wandered the field and grounded in the loss (everyone loses in war). We may be haunted by some friendly ghosts from our numerous 👻 tours. We stole the Gburg address via Escape Gettysburg. We made friends at the The Sign of the Buck. We toured and ate way too much at the Dobbin House Tavern.
And we were delighted at how q***r-friendly it was: Rainbows and flags and art at businesses and in home windows. We stayed at the charming and beautiful gay-owned Olinger House Bed and Breakfast. Even the deer heads were adored in a rainbow wreath at the town bar.

It’s often a fair assumption that small town USA might not be safe (or full of rainbows) 🇺🇸 🏳️‍🌈. As a gay traveler, an American wartown might not be top of the list. Thank you Destination Gettysburg for surprisingly us in such a way and making us feel so welcomed and thanks mom for getting us that horse tour 🐎 for Christmas.

To my Royal Caribbean fans out there: loyalty adds up and now through July 31- pretty well every sailing from Sept 1 through April 2027 gets you double the points. So instead of 7 points for a 7 night sailing, you'll snag 14. For those tracking, I know when we hit Diamond status - the free drinks, and the discounts felt like they mattered, and we mattered.
