Yet another 365 days have elapsed on a life journey, characterized by unceasing struggles with responsibilities and the test of manhood, the cruel hands of Difficulty and cold shivers of Frustration, but sometimes with a gleam of the light of success, jubilation and celebration, still tempered with anxieties and uncertainties, but imbued with hopes, present challenges and future opportunities for an optimist who cannot and will never succumb to the oddities and eccentricities that encapsulate and contextualize life itself. So it’s in this context I’m saying “Happy Birthday to Myself” and hoping to continue go further from this milestone of my life journey, with the help of true friends who have always been there for me, family, and the blessings of the Almighty…

People of Liberia are very contentious when it comes to citizenship. Often, Liberians are pationate in referring to others as foreigners not considering the history of the country that those who called themselves indigenous peoples of Liberia themselves migrated here from the north and east between the 12th and 16th centuries AD.

It was about the Portuguese explorers were carrying on exploration which led then to establishing contacts with people of this land later known as "Liberia" as early as 1462. At the time, they named the area Costa da Pimentia or Grain Coast because of the abundance of melegueta pepper that was found here.

In 1602 the Dutch established a trading post at Grand Cape Mount but destroyed it a year later. Thereafter in 1663, the British installed trading posts on the Grain Coast.

Since that time, no further known settlements by non-African colonists occurred along the Grain Coast until the arrival in 1821 of free blacks from the United States.

These historical accounts are testimony
That we have all come from somewhere to occupy this place as our own. Our primary concern should be pivoted around developing the country instead of unnecessary claims at the time this aged old land is underdeveloped.

COVID-19continues to creep near Liberal with no drastic measures to prevent it. Just today, Ghana announced two confirmed cases imported from Norway and Turkey. The government has started taken steps. It was earlier announced that confirmed cases are in Senegal and Ivory Cast. The message of discouraging importation of used clothings to Africa (in our case Liberia) Is on circulation as though the Commerce Ministry is unconcerned. My question is besides proclaiming health workers at places of entry and announcement of hand wash, what else is the government doing in the face of unrestricted traveling and the roburst used clothings business in the country? My recommendation:
-Ban information of used clothings;
-Ban overcrowding of transport vehicles;
-Ban commuting with short selected, mini skirt , etc.
-Disallow sick people (even people with class and fewer) commuting except.
when they are been taking to hospital

With these measures, plus other measures taken already, Liberians will be trading up to resist the Corona Virus.

A MONOLOGUE FOR MAMA LIBERIA

By: Bill K. Jarkloh

Sweet Liberia! Where is thy sweetness. Why allow ailment to be fall you? Was there any reason for your present state of being?
For the average number of your children, you wouldnt suffer all of the melancholy had you not been betrayed by your childen in the name of youthful leadership.

Regrettably, the ailment of rampant corruption, high inflation, economic mismanagement resulting from uncontrollabe greed, insensitivity to thy plight, nepotism and tainted image within the comity of nations would not have seen you anywhere if you were not betrayed.

Sadly indeed, those who advocated for social justice and against other odds are your enemies today. Those who wanted and advocated for justice yesterday are preaching injustice today; they who wanted equality and equitable distribution of the resources yesterday have turned out to be crusaders for personal wealths at the expense of the masses.

They who were aggitating for good governance through unabated and violent and provocative protestations have today seen similar patterns inimical.

Those who said we were up took us beyond the sky and those who capitalized on high transport fares and high cost of living to provoke civil disorder are worse than before.

Oh Mama Liberia, when will you be delivered from evil genius who always used thy children to execute personal agenda.
Your children are whirling and weeping. They want you liberated but are being frustrated by some priviledged band of thiefs.

The voices of thy children echo everywhere, crying for freedom like it was in South Africa, in the Phillippines, in Irag, in Syria, Sudan and Afganstan but are threatened with security brutality in their quest for mass actions.

Never mind Mama Liberia, the time for redemption is inevitable as we are all engaged to push the national agenda. All I can say to enemies of thy progress is: "Beware of the Eyes of March".
