Here's a great idea. A commericial version of Lauren's vision.
Hello! After being inspired by the NextFab community, I moved to Medellin, Colombia to work with this incredible non-profit designing 3d printed prosthetic arms free of cost for the recipient. As of 2018, we are in the beginning stages of prototyping our first prosthetic leg. Enable is a global organization, but what makes Enable Medellin particularly unique is the overwhelming need. Colombia is 2nd in the world to land mind casualties (just under Afghanistan) making our research into prosthetic legs extremely relevant. Please consider checking out the link below to find out more about what we do! Interested in working with us? Know of institutions or organizations getting rid of outdated equipment or interested in donating equipment? PM me! NextFab is a network of membership-based makerspaces that provide access to tools, technology, education, events, and services for makers of any skill level.

At NextFab, we provide access to machinery, education, membership, community, events, and professional services for anything you want to fabricate. By combining digital technology with traditional tools, we’re finding cutting-edge ways to make things, solve problems, and learn by doing. This is the future of making, and it’s yours to create.

NextFab is a network of membership-based makerspaces that provide access to tools, technology, education, events, and services for makers of any skill level.

Mission: NextFab’s mission is to foster Philadelphia's culture of technological and artistic innovation and entrepreneurship and to develop a problem-solving community as a resource for the region and the nation.

[06/05/20]   A Message from our President and Founder, Evan Malone.

"NextFab condemns the needless death of George Floyd and the needless deaths of so many within the black community.

NextFab supports all who are engaging in peaceful protests.

Personally, I am ashamed that in our country, which I love, so many people are being persecuted because of the color of their skin. This is wrong and it must stop.

To show our support, and assist with making a change:
• We have donated $2500 to The Enterprise Center to support minority entrepreneurship in Philadelphia.
• We will donate $1500 to support minority entrepreneurship in Wilmington. We are seeking recommendations from our community partners in Wilmington, and welcome other recommendations.
• We have donated $1000 to Campaign Zero to support their data-driven approach to policy changes to eliminate police violence in America.
• We are forming an internal task force to make recommendations to help reduce systemic biases in our company culture and services.
• We vote, and we encourage everyone in our community to vote.
• We are listening.

If you are a member, a client, a neighbor, or anyone with an idea for what we at NextFab can do to help fight systemic injustices and enable all to flourish - I want to hear from you."

Sincerely,
Evan Malone
President
