too many activities or not enough, allowing them on screens too often, letting them eat too many snacks, or not teaching them how to take responsibility for themselves. We couldn’t seem to get anything done; we started several projects but never finished them. We rarely laughed anymore, and those dreams we had at one time—the ideas for our lives that made us light up when we talked about them—were long gone. My passion is helping women who are struggling with transition points in their lives, whether they are just starting out on their own after college, finding a new beginning after a first marriage, finding themselves in an empty house after their last child has gone to college, or dealing with the loneliness and isolation of parenthood, and the seemingly universal loss of self as they watch their children grow up. I believe that there are certain things that we do as women because we believe they are serving us—but they are actually sabotaging us. We sabotage ourselves over and over again due to fears that we have about failure, our own fragility, and because of underlying beliefs that we aren’t worthy. When we stop engaging in these patterns of behavior, we are free.
