This is your official release day warning: “Just Frankie, Actually” is dangerous for your TBR.

It’s closed-door.
It’s funny.
It’s full of banter.
It has a single dad.
It has the kind of romcom chaos that makes you go, “absolutely one more chapter.”

And Frankie? I would protect her with my whole life. She’s been used and abused, but Cal’s been showing up for her and helping her and looking at her with those eyes. Not to mention she’s fallen in love with his little girl, Junie.

If you want a closed-door romcom that feels cute, chaotic, with an FMCA impossible not to root for… this is the one. (And you should ABSOLUTELY read the rest of the Love in LA series by !)

10 out of 10. No notes.

To be fair, Bookstagram wasn’t a thing when I became a mom 11 years ago…

Or maybe it was, but I was too deep in the mommy fog to realize. ☁️

But I mean, I’ll always love my kids more than bookstagram so it evens out. Or something 🤷🏼‍♀️

“You’re my person.”

Those 3 words, made famous by best friends Meredith Grey and Christina Yang forever changed the trope of “found family” to me.

It’s such a simple statement, but as I’ve found “my people” across life stages and job settings, it’s a phrase that has stayed with me.

If you also loved Grey’s Anatomy, but want way less spice, I have GREAT news. Daphne Dyer’s Third Coast Medical series will definitely fill that void in the best way!

With SIX books worth of found family, swoony moments, the wittiest of banter, and of course some delicious slow burn romance, you will be calling these MMCs McDreamy and any others you can come up with! (McSwoony? That could work 😉 )

And the BEST part is that they are ALL AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW!! Read them on KU or paperback!

Thanks to and for the copy of this book!!

The best books aren’t always the loudest ones.

Sometimes they’re just quietly sitting there waiting to ruin your plans 😏

So here are a few CRIMINALLY underhyped closed-door books that deserve way more attention — no spice, no boredom, all the tension.

Save this for your next “what should I read?” crisis. And be sure to follow along to see all the new hidden gems I find!

And tell me: what closed-door hidden gem needs more hype?

Romantasy, pirates, and trials, oh my!!

(MUCH better than lions, tigers, and bears! 😉)

I have NO doubt that this series will be a 6⭐️ series. And I haven’t even read book 2 yet.

THAT’S how good book 1 was. (And I’ve heard book 2 is even better!!)

When I switched to only closed-door books, I knew there were fab romance authors, some had already been reading. But I was nervous I wouldn’t read romantasy/fantasy books that were as obsession-inducing, reading-slump-creating, diabolical and top-tier as some of the books I had been reading.

But I have NEVER been so happy to be wrong!! And this series by was the first to slap me in the face with a big “oh girl you have no idea how awesome things are about to get!!”

Anyway, this is 6 stars, and you should ALL read it! I’ll report back after I finish book 2!

Tell me- what’s a 6⭐️ series you’ve loved? (Romance or fantasy or whatever!)

Everything’s Grand is midlife chaos, friendship, family drama, second chances, and very strong “I’m fine” energy…when she is absolutely not fine.

Warm, witty, and full of heart- with women figuring life out through caffeine, friendship, and mild panic.

Not my usual tension-over-spice obsession, but such a sweet change of pace. 💕

Thank you to , , and for the ARC. All thoughts are my own.

Save this if you need a cozy women’s fiction read, and tell me: what age do you prefer your MCs to be?

I don’t ask for much in a closed-door book.

Just banter.
A grumpy softie.
An accidental hand graze.
A fake dating fiasco (because )
And one emotionally devastating confession that makes me question my entire day.

That’s all.

No spice needed. The tension clocked in for work. 🕰️

What ingredient would you add?

Closed-door readers, this one’s for us.

Because no spice does NOT mean no chemistry.
No spice does NOT mean boring.
And no spice definitely does NOT mean I won’t be emotionally pacing my kitchen over one almost-hand-touch.

Here are some closed-door books that actually hit- tension, banter, hidden gems, emotional damage, the whole polite little disaster package.

Tell me your favorite kind of tension and I’ll try to match you with a rec 👀
