Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula

05/08/2026

There’s a reason so many cultures turn to rice, beans, and chicken after having a baby — it’s comforting, nourishing, healing, and easy on a recovering body. 🤍✨

Postpartum recovery requires warmth, protein, iron, hydration, and foods that help keep your energy stable while caring for a newborn. Rice provides gentle carbohydrates for energy, beans are packed with fiber, iron, and protein, and chicken helps support tissue healing and recovery with lean protein and important nutrients.

It’s simple food, but deeply nourishing food. 🍲
A warm plate of rice, beans, and chicken can help support:
✨ Recovery after birth
✨ Milk production & energy levels
✨ Blood sugar balance
✨ Healing & replenishment
✨ Comfort during those long newborn days

Sometimes postpartum nutrition doesn’t need to be complicated — it just needs to be wholesome, warm, and made with love. ☀️

April will always hold a special place in my heart. 🌿

It’s Cesarean Awareness Month… and also the month I became a mother through an emergency C-section with one of my sons.

It wasn’t the birth I had imagined.
It wasn’t the plan I had carefully prepared for.
And in the moment, it felt overwhelming, fast, and completely out of my control.

But what I didn’t realize then…
was just how powerful that moment truly was.

Because that birth—my birth—was still sacred.
It was still strong.
It was still mine.

My body didn’t fail me.
My body carried me and my baby through exactly what we needed in that moment. 🤍

Years later, as a doula, I hold space for families walking through all kinds of birth stories—including Cesarean births. And I see it so clearly now:

✨ There is strength in surrender
✨ There is power in healing
✨ There is beauty in every birth story

To every mama with a C-section scar—planned or unplanned—
your story matters.
your healing matters.
YOU matter.

That scar?
It’s not just a scar…
it’s a reminder of the day you met your baby. 🌞

With love,

One of the most effective (and underrated) comfort techniques I use with my clients is counter pressure
That steady pressure on the lower back and hips during contractions?
✨ It can completely change how labor feels.
Especially for mamas experiencing back labor—this can be a game changer.
But here's the thing...
It's not just about what to do-it's about how and when to do it.
That's where having a doula comes in.
Someone who:
- knows your body
- reads your cues
- supports your partner
- and helps you feel grounded through it all
You deserve that level of support

“Jennifer is a God send and a blessing. She was a great advocate for us in the hospital, very supportive and knowledgeable. She helped prepare us for labor before hand. As far as what to expect and exercises to prepare for labor. She was always there to answer any and all questions, day and night. We seriously couldn't have done it without her support! We love you Jennifer!” - Shannon M.

I’m an overnight postpartum doula, a birth worker, a mom of three boys, and someone whose roots are proudly Puerto Rican 🇵🇷
Nurturing, caring, and showing up for families has always been part of who I am.

Overnight support is quiet, sacred work.
It’s holding babies in the still hours of the night, protecting rest, supporting healing, and being a calm presence when the world feels tender and new.

I’m incredibly humbled every single day by the families who trust me with their most vulnerable moments—and endlessly grateful for my own family, who supports me so fully while I do this work.

This isn’t just what I do.
It’s who I am.
And I’m so honored to walk alongside families during such a powerful season of life 🌙✨

“I trusted Jennifer with the overnight care of my newborn twins from the moment she stepped in the door. She was knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly treated my boys as one of her own. I slept soundly and didn't worry about them for one second in her care. I was able to be a more present and loving mother during the day because of her. Oh and she sleep trains babies as well. After 5 nights she had my twins sleeping 12 hours!” - Lauren K.

✨ The Importance of Postpartum Nutrition ✨

Postpartum nutrition is not a luxury — it’s a vital part of recovery.

After birth, your body is healing from pregnancy, labor, and delivery while also adjusting hormonally and, for many, producing milk. What you eat during this time directly impacts your energy levels, mood, healing, and milk supply.

🥣 Nourishing foods support:
• Tissue repair & uterine healing
• Hormonal balance
• Stable blood sugar & mood
• Milk production (if breastfeeding)
• Energy during sleepless nights

🍲 Focus on foods that are:
• Warm & grounding (soups, stews, bone broth)
• Rich in protein (eggs, beans, meats, tofu)
• High in iron & minerals
• Healthy fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts)
• Easy to digest & comforting

This is not the time to restrict, diet, or “bounce back.”
This is the time to replenish, restore, and receive care.

As a postpartum doula, I remind families:
✨ You cannot pour from an empty cup — nourishment is part of your support system. ✨

💛 If you’re expecting, plan your postpartum meals now.
💛 If you’re already postpartum, it’s never too late to start nourishing yourself.
