Did you know that until its closing the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot, was the sole producer of ? While the Depot utilized the highest technology machines of its time in day-to-day operations, this special class of flags for the President and Cabinet members required a skill of the highest order. An elite group of artisans embroidered details such as the feathers of this eagle with the most painstaking detail and carried on a historic flag-making tradition.

Rounding out women's history month with one VERY notable woman of our present. Meet Dawn, on-site property manager of the Quartermaster. Wrangling the day-to-day demands of a 1 MSF campus while fiercely advocating for our tenant experience, she does it all with grace and good humor. Our community is strong because of the strong women that lead within it.

Have you ever wondered what goes on in this stately building as you enter our campus? Building 12 is home to the Philadelphia Job Corps Center, where students get hands on training in fields like pharmacy tech, EMT, facilities maintenance and culinary arts. This innovative program by the U.S. Dept of Labor is making social impact one person at a time and we are proud to see these talented individuals launch their professional lives here at the Q!

Did you know that the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot was born out of the Schuylkill Arsenal, producing uniforms like these for the Union troops in the Civil War? You can still see remnants of its stone wall at Grays Ferry and Washington Avenues today. By the early 1900s these operations transitioned to 20th and Oregon.
