If I told baby Yon that I did over 40 speaking engagements so far this year I would’ve never believed it!
Don’t know who’s been paying attention to my journey but if you have, you know that this is something that I prayed for… to become a better speaker. And what did God do? Give me the opportunity to do it multiple times a week. Am I sometimes scared? Yea. Do I get tired? Of course! Do I know everything? No. Am I confident? I learned to be.
But one thing that really keeps me going is my alone time when I don’t have to talk, think, move around or anything, I can just be.
If you are interested in tapping into some of my work and things that I talk about, feel free to check out my YouTube channel.

This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending WURD Radio's 20th anniversary celebration, and let me tell you, it was an incredible experience. The celebration was a testament to the importance and power of Black radio and the impact it has on our communities.
We celebrated the work and love of the Lomax Family, and in particular, Sara M. Lomax. All of the honoree's remarks were the highlight of the night for me. I extend my warmest congratulations to everyone who helped accomplish such important work. The performance from Carol Riddick was absolutely amazing. Her soulful voice echoed throughout the room and her performance left a lasting impression on all those in attendance.
Another memorable moment of the evening was the conversation held by Sara Lomax, Travis Smiley, Melody Spann Cooper & Rev. Al Sharpton. It was inspiring to hear their insights and perspectives on the current state of Black media.
In conclusion, attending WURD's 20th anniversary celebration was an unforgettable experience. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of Black radio in our community and the critical role it plays in shaping our collective narrative and driving social change. It was truly a night to remember, filled with inspiration and hope for the future!
