🥛 A New Milk Choice Is Here!

Phenix City Schools Child Nutrition is excited to announce that whole milk is now available for our students!

Thanks to the Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act of 2025, schools participating in the National School Lunch Program now have greater flexibility in the types of milk they can offer. The law allows schools to offer whole milk, along with the other milk choices students are accustomed to seeing in our cafeterias.

For our students and families, this simply means more choices at mealtime! ❤️🥛

Whole milk provides important nutrients, including protein, calcium, potassium, and vitamins A and D, that support growing bodies.

We are excited to add whole milk to our daily menu and continue providing students with nutritious choices they enjoy.

🍎 And remember—breakfast and lunch are FREE for ALL students!

Phenix City Schools participates in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), which allows every enrolled student to receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch at no cost each school day

The Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (FFVP) is a U.S. Department of Agriculture program that provides free fresh fruits and vegetables to children in participating elementary schools. It encourages healthy snacking habits and helps students learn to appreciate a wider variety of produce.

🍎📚 Welcome Back, Phenix City Students! 📚🍎

A brand-new school year is here, and the Phenix City Schools Child Nutrition Team is excited to welcome our students back to the cafeteria!

This month, we're introducing new breakfast favorites that are sure to help students start their day with a delicious, nutritious meal. Be sure to check out this month's menu and give our new items a try!

We're also excited about what's ahead. Throughout this school year, we'll be expanding our scratch cooking initiative, bringing more fresh, homemade recipes to our cafeterias. Our goal is to serve meals that are not only nutritious, but also flavorful, wholesome, and made with care.

✨ Remember: Thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), all Phenix City Schools students receive breakfast and lunch at no cost every school day!

We are proud to share that two of our “Food Dudes”, Mr. Walter Pinkston (CHS) & Mr. Darian Cox (PCIS), recently attended a two-day training focused on scratch cooking and incorporating fresh ingredients into daily school meal operations!

The training was held at the Jones Teaching Farm in Birmingham, Alabama, where participants gained hands-on experience and valuable knowledge about preparing fresh, high-quality meals for students.

At Phenix City Schools Child Nutrition, we are always looking for ways to grow, learn, and bring new ideas back to our cafeterias. We are excited to continue enhancing our menus and providing nutritious, delicious meals for our students each day.

🍳 Breakfast: 7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
🍽 Lunch: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
