This weekend we performed at the grand opening of Fuego Latino in Giddings! My favorite part is watching the parents faces light up during the performances! If you have a chance to make the drive out to Giddings to try Fuego Latino, you won’t be sorry! I tried the Jamaican Jerk Ribs, sooo good! ¡Este fin de semana bailamos en la gran inauguración de Fuego Latino en Giddings! ¡Lo que más me gusta es ver cómo se iluminan los rostros de los padres durante las presentaciones! Si tienes la oportunidad de ir hasta Giddings para probar Fuego Latino, ¡no te arrepentirás! Probé las costillas al estilo *Jamaican Jerk* y ¡estaban buenísimas!

Our first performance of the fall semester was in Kerrville on Sunday, August 9th. Open Eyes Beyond Border hosted the Relief Vision Clinic & Back-to-School Wellness Day. We enjoyed performing at such an AMAZING community event!

Nuestra primera presentación del semestre de otoño fue en Kerrville el domingo 9 de agosto. La organización Open Eyes Beyond Border fue la anfitriona de la Clínica de la Visión (Relief Vision Clinic) y de la Jornada de Bienestar para el Regreso a Clases. ¡Disfrutamos mucho bailar en un evento comunitario tan INCREÍBLE!

Day 3 and our final day of the workshop! Remember we went to the Selena museum on Friday! We spent our Sunday learning dances from the state of Tamaulipas with Maestro Carlos! We didn’t want our time to end, we met so many wonderful dancers. We look forward to attending and seeing everyone next year! 🤩🥰

El tercer y último día de clases! Recuerden que el viernes nos fuimos al museo de Selena! Aprendimos bailes del estado de Tamaulipas con el Maestro Carlos! No queríamos que nuestro tiempo con toda la gente tan linda que conocimos se acabara, pero primeramente Dios, nos vemos el próximo año! 🤩🥰

Day 2 of the Tasia Marie Silvas Folklórico workshop! A fun filled day of dances from Veracruz with Maestro Miguel! The afternoon continued with an amazing showcase of dances that had been learned on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday!

FUN FACT: Highland Park Elementary Ballet Folklorico was established in 2008 as an after school enrichment class with the main goal of giving back to our community by sharing the Mexican culture with performances in and around the Pflugerville area. 

Ms. Muñoz is a dedicated and passionate educator who continues to learn new dances in order to share with our Bulldog dancers.

DATO CURIOSO: El Ballet Folclórico de la Escuela Primaria Highland Park se fundó en 2008 como una actividad extracurricular de enriquecimiento, con el objetivo principal de retribuir a nuestra comunidad compartiendo la cultura mexicana a través de presentaciones en el área de Pflugerville y sus alrededores.

La Sra. Muñoz es una educadora dedicada y apasionada que sigue aprendiendo nuevos bailes para compartirlos con nuestros bailarines Bulldog.

Day 1 of the Tasia Marie Silvas Folklorico Summer Workshop in Corpus Christi was intense but fun! We learned 6 new dances from 6 different regions from Maestro Carlos Cepeda (Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas) and Maestro Miguel Angel Ruiz (Xalapa, Veracruz) 😅 Today is a rest day and we are headed to the Selena Museum and the Art Museum! ANYTHING FOR SALINAS!! 😃

Ms. Muñoz and Ms. Jiménez attended an amazing Huasteca dance workshop presented by the Texas Association for Dance and Culture in Irving on Saturday! Throughout the day, five maestros shared their knowledge and dance techniques from five of the six Huasteca regions (Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Hidalgo, Veracruz, and Tamaulipas). It was fun and fast paced, the future of folklorico is in good hands! 🇲🇽
