👏 The Cocoon – Providing vital support, advocacy, and resources for individuals and families impacted by domestic and sexual violence.

🏊 The Josh Project – A nonprofit dedicated to providing affordable swim lessons and water safety education, helping children and families build lifesaving skills around the water.

👵 Wood County Committee On Aging– Serving older adults throughout our community with programs, services, education, and resources that promote healthy, independent living.

🚗 Wood County Hospital – Offering FREE Car Seat Education, Safety Checks, and Demonstrations to help families ensure children are riding safely.

🐴 Hooves – A nonprofit that uses equine-assisted therapy to help military veterans and first responders heal from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma-related mental health challenges.

🎤📸 Kahle’s General Service – Helping bring the event to life with professional audio support and a fun photo booth experience for families to enjoy throughout the day.

These organizations represent what SAFE TOGETHER is all about: bringing trusted local resources together in one place to help families, children, seniors, veterans, and our entire community become safer and more prepared.

This is a powerful reminder that you don't have to be a paramedic to make a life-saving difference.

A 20-year-old cosmetology student used what she learned in first aid training and the shirt off her back to help save the life of a robbery victim. She didn't have specialized equipment. She didn't have years of experience. She had knowledge and the confidence to act.

VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: She’s Birdie

Community Safety Day is just over a month out, and we are excited to welcome a new partner joining us all the way from San Diego.

She’s Birdie makes the original personal safety alarm, designed by women, for women. It is a small, keychain-sized device that fits right in your hand or bag. When you feel unsafe, you pull the top and it sets off a loud 130 decibel siren and a bright flashing strobe light, loud enough and bright enough to stop a threat in its tracks and turn every head around you.

No pepper spray. No tasers. Nothing violent. Just a simple, reusable tool that puts help one pull away, whether you are walking to your car, out for a run, or sending a kid off to college. It is easy enough for a child or a grandparent to use.

Most businesses do active attack training once a year.
A video plays. A box gets checked. Everyone goes back to work.
But here is the problem.

Most people walk out with the same unanswered questions they had walking in.

What does a gunshot actually sound like inside a building?
What happens to your thinking when panic sets in?
What if your nearest exit is blocked?
What if you are responsible for someone else's safety?
What if the threat is someone you know?

A video does not prepare you for any of that.

Real preparedness comes from practice, honest conversation, realistic scenarios, and leadership that is actually involved.

The biggest thing we see when we work with organizations?
Everyone assumed someone else had a plan.

Nobody did.
If the people in your building do not have real training, this is worth a conversation.
