SUPERINTENDENT NEWSLETTER - AUGUST 2026
Welcome Back!
Dear Students, Families, Staff, and Community,
As we begin another exciting school year, I want to extend a warm welcome to all of our students, families, and staff. A new school year brings fresh opportunities for learning, growth, and success, and we are excited to partner with you in helping every student reach their full potential.
Throughout the summer, our district has been busy preparing our schools, classrooms, and facilities to ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment. We have also made several important investments that will benefit our students for years to come.
One of our most exciting additions is the purchase of two new activity buses. These buses will provide reliable transportation for our students as they participate in extracurricular activities, academic competitions, field trips, and other events that enrich their educational experience.
We have also continued to improve the comfort of our transportation fleet. During the summer, six district buses were retrofitted with air conditioning, helping provide a more comfortable ride for our students and drivers during the warmer months.
In addition to transportation improvements, the district has ordered new student technology for every school site. As these devices arrive throughout the fall, we will replace outdated technology to ensure our students and teachers have access to reliable, up-to-date tools that enhance learning and prepare students for success.
Academically, we remain committed to building strong readers from the earliest grades. This year, we will continue our Waterford Early Literacy Program, which has been an important resource in supporting foundational reading skills. We are especially excited to expand the program to include kindergarten students, giving our youngest learners an even stronger start as they develop the literacy skills that are essential for lifelong success.
We also recognize that the success of our students depends on the dedication of every member of our team. This year, the district is making a significant investment in our employees by providing a 75-cent-per-hour pay increase for our support staff. In addition, all certified staff will receive the state-mandated $2,000 salary increase. We value the commitment and hard work of our employees, and these investments reflect our appreciation for the important role they play in the success of our students and schools.
These investments reflect our commitment to providing outstanding educational opportunities while supporting the needs of our students, staff, and families. We are grateful for the continued support of our Board of Education, our dedicated employees, and our community as we work together to create the best possible learning environment for every child.
I encourage all families to stay connected with our schools throughout the year by attending school events, communicating with teachers, and following district updates. Your involvement plays a vital role in student success.
Thank you for your continued trust and partnership. Together, we look forward to a school year filled with achievement, growth, and memorable experiences.
I wish everyone a safe, successful, and rewarding school year!
Sincerely,
Doug Ogle
