The reading marathon is held during Laura Ingalls Wilder Days in Pepin. The goal is for a team of readers to keep reading the Little House Books aloud for the two days of our event. Each reader takes a 30 minute block.
The Little House Books are what this event is all about! The words are magic, and take readers and listeners to Laura’s time and place.
The Reading Marathon is moving this year to the children’s activities pavilion next to the playground in the main park.

Just like that, the summer 2026 season of "Home at Laura's Place," at the Little House Wayside near Pepin, is over. The weekend of August 8 & 9 was lovely. The cabin was charming, with furnishings of the 1870s, and craftspeople showed how things were done in Laura's time. There were many activities for children to do. Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

The last "Home at Laura's Place" weekend of the 2026 season will be held on August 8 & 9. During this event reenactors furnish the Little House Wayside near Pepin as it might have been in the 1870s, and demonstrate the arts of home living in Laura's time. Visitors are welcome from 10:00-5:00 both Saturday and Sunday.
