These days I’m preparing for an upcoming evening with some Girl Scouts to earn The Social Butterfly Badge.

We will be covering these sorts of topics:
👧Hold a conversation.
👧Proper table manners.
👧Be prepared for special occasions.
👧Writing thank you notes.
👧Practice being at ease.

These are all important and timely subjects.

🌟10 Etiquette Tips to Share Before Age 10🌟

1 How to give a REAL compliment- name virtues or personalities. “I admire your courage on stage!” Specific. Kind.

2. How to kindly receive a compliment. No deflections. A simple “thank you” demonstrates confidence and grace.

3. How to notice if someone is alone and invite them to join a group- it’s a poweful act of kindness.

4. To stand when meeting others. Look for eye color when meeting someone knew.

5. How to graciously write a thank you note for a gift or act of kindness.

6. Awareness of positive body language. We communicate so much without ever saying a word.

7. How to enjoy the art of conversation, especially at the dinner table.

8. Make it a routine to use words such as please, thank you and excuse me….small words that carry honor and respect.

9. How to hold and use silverware properly. It is not about perfection. It is about helping them feel comfortable and confident at the table.

10. Understand the true purpose of etiquette. It is not being “fancy”- it is about treating everyone with honor, dignity and respect.
