Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart

Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart Chesterton Academy nurtures the minds and souls of high school students through an integrated, great books education.

The purpose of Chesterton Academy is to nurture the minds and the souls of our children through an integrated education. We believe that all truths are related to the central truth of the Incarnation, Crucifixion, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Faith and reason do not contradict one another, nor are they to be segregated from one another. Through the study of art, music, literature, language, h

istory, mathematics, science, philosophy and religion, we want to prepare our children to think both rationally and creatively, to defend their faith, to contribute positively to society, and to promote a culture of life.

Last spring, Chesterton Academy of the Sacred Heart students traveled to Rome on a capstone pilgrimage organized by our international network of Chesterton Schools.
Through this pilgrimage, Chesterton juniors and seniors get to see history come to life, deepen their faith, and connect with Chesterton Academy students from across the country as they visit the historic and holy sites they learn about through our rich classical, Catholic curriculum.

The Chesterton Schools Network recently released the following video that was made during that trip. Please check it out!

Our headmaster, Dr. Russell; new faculty members, Mr. Pitts and Mr. Gibson; and board member, Mateusz Koszarek attended the annual Chesterton Schools Network Summit at Ave Maria University in Ave Maria, FL.

The summit brings together leaders of the Chesterton Schools movement from around the world for four days of training, spiritual retreat, and fellowship. There are now 106 schools that are open, or in the process of opening, with over 4,400 students enrolled in many U.S. states and countries throughout the world.

Eli is a parishioner of St. Mary of Lourdes in Germantown Hills and is a member of House Chrysostom at Chesterton Academy. Over his four years at Chesterton Academy, Eli has enjoyed Junior Literature, where he studied Dante’s Divine Comedy. In addition, Eli has enjoyed Physics, which gave him a unique perspective with which to view the world. A meaningful lesson that Eli has learned in his time at Chesterton Academy, is to always try to see Christ in others. Eli is an active participant in his school community where he is a member of the Chesterton Academy Chamber Singers as well as the school’s Basketball team. Outside of school, Eli enjoys playing soccer and training for marathons. After he graduates, Eli will study International Business at either the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain or Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH.

Fatima is a parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church in La Salle, IL and is a member of House Athanasius. She transferred to Chesterton Academy in her junior year and of the courses which she has taken, has most enjoyed Junior Literature and Choir. In Junior Literature, she has been compelled by the theme of humanity’s search for truth and has enjoyed the depth of perspective studied in this course. She has also enjoyed Choir for the sense of community that it developed as well as the joy of being part of something great and beautiful. A meaningful lesson that Fatima has learned over her time at Chesterton Academy is the important relationship between gratitude and joy. According to Fatima, “Gratitude is the precedent of joy and it stops us from taking meaningful things for granted”. She has also learned the value of the growth that happens in moments where we are asked to step outside of our comfort zone. Fatima has welcomed opportunities for growth as she has embraced the role of Prefect for House Athanasius this school year. Outside of school, Fatima can be found outdoors or spending time with friends. After graduating from Chesterton Academy, Fatima plans to begin studying Biochemistry at Bradley University in Peoria, IL.
