A few weeks ago, we brought Alex to Maryland for a successful outdoor demo, marking an exciting milestone for our team 💫
For the first time, Alex walked:
_ Without the gantry, operating completely untethered
_ On battery power, demonstrating mobility beyond the lab environment
_ Across uneven terrain, outdoors, taking another step toward operating in real-world environments
Achievements like these are the result of the dedication, collaboration, and countless hours of work from an incredible team of researchers and engineers.
See you in September for our next demo 🚀
What’s different about the new Alex? 🤔
Many of you have been asking us this, so we decided to make a Episode all about it 🎙️
p.s: watch until the end for a very important disclaimer 👀

Last week, IHMC Robotics was everywhere ✈️🌍
While part of our team just returned from in Vienna, others were representing us at in California. It was a week full of great conversations, inspiring talks, and new opportunities for collaboration!
In both events, we were extremely happy to reconnect with industry friends, explore the latest advances showcased in great expo booths, and attend inspiring talks and sessions. We’re back to work in our Florida lab, full of energy and excited for what’s next 💫
Thank you to and for having us! See you next year 👋🏼

Space Tech Expo USA is just around the corner, and we’re really looking forward to it 👩🏼🚀🚀🤖
On June 4, our researcher Dr. Beomyeong Park will join the panel “Humanoids in Space”, moderated by Todd Simon ( ), alongside Elena Sorina Lupu ( ) and Ethan Barajas ( ).
The discussion will explore how humanoid robots could become a scalable workforce beyond Earth and support the next generation of space missions 🫡
If you’ll be attending this year, come say hello! ✨

🇦🇹 Vienna, here we come!
We are very excited to attend next week. We’re also looking forward to joining two great community events during the conference:
👉🏼 Hapctics & Telerobotics Mixer (June 1)
👉🏼 AI x Humanoids & Hands Social (June 4)
If you’re attending ICRA, come say hi! We can’t wait to meet fellow researchers, engineers, students, and robotics enthusiasts from around the world 🌎
Wir sehen uns dort!! ✈️🤖

What a day!! 🎉
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Open House, we were thrilled to welcome so many of you into our lab and share what we’ve been working on. Your curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm made this event truly special!
We were especially excited to see such an incredible response to our “Design a Head for Alex” contest 🎨 We collected 69 amazing drawings, and honestly, it’s going to be very hard to pick a winner!
Stay tuned… we’ll be announcing the winner soon 👀 The selected artist will be invited to our lab for a special ceremony, where they’ll receive a small 3D-printed version of their design 🤖
Thank you again for being part of this unforgettable day, we can’t wait to see you all again next year!

Following the recent milestones of the Artemis program, we’re looking back to 2019 —when we teamed up with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration on EOD scenarios using the humanoid robot Valkyrie 🤖
With this project, Valkyrie demonstrated how humanoid robots can extend human capabilities in high-risk environments —on Earth today, and potentially in space tomorrow.
Thank you to NASA for this collaboration, and to TRACLabs for their major contributions in manipulation and user interface development.
From lab experiments… to real-world impact… and maybe one day, to the Moon 🌕🚀
