I went out at midnight last night (Sunday night) to photograph the perseids meteor shower from the dam at Lake Wildwood, and the aurora showed up. Another photographer arrived while I was starting to shoot. She had driven from Colfax. I said, you here for the perseids meteor shower? She said "What meteor shower? I just got an alert on my app that the aurora was peaking." So it was serendipitous. The aurora was only on the nothern horizon. It peaked as seen the image below, but nothing like the May event. Still it was a fun surprise. Image: 8 seconds, f2.0, ISO3200.

The foreground was denoised in Topaz denoise.
