This page, so far, is being managed by two mothers that have children that align somewhere on the very wide spectrum of Autism. I have another child, girl that is 8 and is an awesome example of how siblings can be great advocates. I'll allow Sarah to add her own input on her children when she gets a chance. Between the two of us we wanted some where to go for local advice, inclusion, understanding
and above all else, opportunity to empower our children on the spectrum and off the spectrum to be inclusive of everyone. We wish to offer up opportunities for local families that are also living the autism life to go out and enjoy things as a family without the hassle that everyday life throws at us while we are out in a very stimulating environment. I suppose I will have to update this description at a later time but for right now, our first goal is to set up something similar to what has been seen around Facebook as an "Autism Eats" night. We wish to get a local restaurant involved and all go out as a family and let our kiddos enjoy and experience a meal out without the sometimes scrutinizing stares of others and most of all we want to spread awareness of our children. All children will become adults, even our children affected differently by autism. It is always appropriate to allow them to experience everything that others get to experience. Having a night out for dinner where the lights may be dimmed a bit and the music isn't blaring and they are able to flap, clap, rock, holler, or move from table to table enjoy themselves as they do at home but be out and about in public is awesome. I know it's awesome because I've been out on the special education field trips but my child's fun should not be scheduled into field trips. Communities need more awareness and acceptance and I hope we can reach others that we can help or that can help us.
