🌱 PASTURE MANAGEMENT: MYTH VS. FACT!
MYTH #1: I have five acres and a couple of horses. My pasture should pretty much take care of itself.
FACT: Just because you have acreage doesn’t mean you have a healthy pasture! Overgrazing, soil compaction, poor irrigation practices, and weeds can quickly turn a productive pasture into a dirt lot.
MYTH #2: If my pasture is green, it must be healthy.
FACT: Green doesn’t always mean good! Your pasture could be full of weeds, have poor forage production, or be struggling with soil health issues.
MYTH #3: The more I mow my pasture, the better my grass will grow.
FACT: Mowing can help manage certain weeds and encourage desirable forage growth, but mowing too frequently or too short can actually weaken your pasture.
MYTH #4: I don’t need to test my soil. I’ll just add fertilizer when the grass needs a boost.
FACT: Without a soil test, you’re guessing! Soil testing helps identify nutrient needs so you can make informed fertilizer decisions and avoid wasting money.
