Fascinating tour of the Caltech Seismo Lab today led by Margaret Vinci, Manager of the Office of Earthquake Programs, Communications & Outreach.

Margaret also pointed out that today is the deadline to apply for a grant of up to $3,000 toward a building code-compliant earthquake retrofit. Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) helps homeowners strengthen their home and protect against earthquake damage. Criteria include:

You own and live in the house you would like to retrofit.
You live in a designated by ZIP Code.
Your house was built before 1980.
Your house has a raised foundation, or crawl space under your house.

If you are spring cleaning your closet at the end of the year, think of the Caltech Y which is organizing a Professional Clothing Drive for Caltech students. Drop off items at the Caltech Y from
Tuesday January 2nd through Friday January 12th, 2024 9am - 4pm.
CALE and the Caltech Y are hosting their annual professional clothing drive. The mission is to enable Caltech students to confidently dress for success in their career journey; whether it be their first interview or first job! All clothing donations will be for our students to “shop” during the Spring term (no money will be exchanged; students will be able to pick out outfits completely free of charge).
For health and safety concerns, please only donate professional attire in good and clean condition.
What should I donate?
Ties, Bowties, Trousers, Dress pants, Blouses, Button-up shirts, Dresses, Skirts, Suits, Blazers, Cardigans and Sports coats!
Anything you would wear into the office!
