The Eaton and Palisades fires destroyed more than 16,000 structures — among the most destructive disasters in LA County history.

Since January 2025, DCM referrals have unlocked more than $100 million in direct assistance for survivors. Today, there are 1,397 open cases and roughly 700 survivors on a wait list, including 1,027 active cases from the Eaton Fire.

Nearly 600 days later, more than $15 billion in requested long-term federal recovery funding still hasn't been appropriated.

A June 2026 survey of 2,000+ survivors found two-thirds remain displaced, including 85% of those who lost everything. Half of survivors have used up, or will soon use up, temporary housing assistance; roughly half have depleted significant savings; three in four say their mental health is worse than before the fires.

Losing DCMP doesn't shrink the need; it shifts nearly 1,500 households onto community organizations already at capacity. Many survivors will fall through the cracks.

Recovery from a disaster like this takes years, not months. Case managers help survivors navigate a maze of systems at once — and losing them now, while thousands of families are still displaced, would set our community back at the worst possible time.

Stand with survivors, Eaton Fire Collaborative , and partner organizations today and every day, and tell your representative that LA fire survivors are still recovering!
