Happy Feast of St. Martha! From Seeking God: A Wonder-filled Summer -->
It is traditionally believed that St. Mary Magdalene, St. Lazarus, and St. Martha went to France after Jesus’s Ascension. About her life in France, Benedictine Dom Prosper Gueranger writes, “On the banks of the Rhone, Martha was still the same: full of motherly compassion for every misery, spending herself in deeds of kindness. Always surrounded by the poor, says the ancient historian of the two sisters, she fed them with tender care, with food which heaven abundantly supplied to her charity, while she herself, the only one she forgot, was contended with herbs; and as in the glorious past she had served the Head of the Church in Person, she now served him in his members, and was full of loving kindness to all. Meantime she delighted in practices of penance that would frighten us. Martyred thus a thousand times over, Martha with all the powers of her holy soul yearned for heaven. Her mind lost in God, she spent whole nights absorbed in prayer. Ever prostrate, she adored him reigning gloriously in heaven, whom she had seen without glory in her own house. Often, too, she would travel through towns and villages, announcing to the people Christ the Savior.” May we, too, treat others with Christ’s love.
St. Martha, pray for us!

Our tutors enjoyed a wonderful week at the Institute for Catholic Liberal Education National Conference!
In its description of the conference's Stepping Into the Light theme, ICLE referenced St. Catherine of Siena, who said “the task of the educator is to bring the soul from the shadows of ignorance into the light of truth.” This is exactly what we hope to do at DMA as we partner with parents to form saints and scholars for our Church and country!
Thank you to our tutors for representing DMA so well at this year's conference! You bring us such joy and inspiration - we can't wait to see what the year ahead brings and the many ways you will bless our students!

WHAT IS A CLASSICAL EDUCATION?
At Divine Mercy Academy, we pursue a classical education because we believe it best aligns with the goal of preparing students for Heaven. We seek to form the whole person: mind, will, and imagination. Our aim is not so much to prepare students for the workplace, but for Heaven. If our education appears out of step with modern trends, it is not because we are reactionary, but because modern trends were themselves designed in opposition to the classical Catholic vision.
Classical education emphasizes what lasts. We read great books, contemplate beautiful works of art, study the grandeur of nature, and learn the order of mathematics and Latin - not because these are fashionable or marketable, but because they form the soul.
All of history is a response to God’s love - whether in acceptance, rejection, or indifference. Our students enter the Great Conversation by learning how human beings across time have responded to truth. They are not passive recipients of information; they are participants in an unfolding story. As Chesterton reminds us, education is not about creating our own truths but discovering the truth that already is.
We teach in an integrated fashion, uniting literature, history, science, art, math, music, and theology in a single vision of reality. The tutor is not a dispenser of information, but a guide - like the captain of a great ship - leading students toward the true, the good, and the beautiful. The students do the rowing; the tutor charts the course.
In all things, the goal is virtue. We want our students to love what is lovely, to see the world with wonder, and to respond in joy. Education rightly ordered leads to worship, and worship leads the soul home to God.

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!
In C.S. Lewis' The Last Battle, the Pevensie children find themselves in Aslan's country. Looking off into the distance, they realize that they can see England - but it was not a copy of the England they remember, but a realer, truer England. In fact, it was the England they remember that was the shadow of the true England that existed all along in Aslan's country. Similarly, America at 250 years has the ability to be the bright city on a hill precisely because it is the reflection of the great Kingdom that awaits us all.
At DMA, we believe that each of us truly is made to be a saint - our mission is to raise up faithful men and women who will serve their Church, their local community, and our nation as a whole. Today, as we mark the anniversary of the founding of this Nation, may we fill our hearts with gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy while fixing our eyes on the Kingdom we hope to emulate.
On behalf of the DMA community, may you all enjoy a wonderful Independence Day! May Our Lady protect and intercede for us today and all days and may we continue to be blessed by Our Father in Heaven!

Our DMA choir is featured on the new Ward Music website, Welcoming Children in Worship! The students are featured singing Regina Caeli, Adoro Te Devote, and Concordi Laetitia. Here they are singing Adoro Te Devote. The text was written many centuries ago by St. Thomas Aquinas!
