Your GPA isn’t just about grades when you’re on Day 1 CPT.
I’ve seen students come dangerously close to losing their work authorization simply because school became “secondary” to work.
The reality? Your academic standing is tied directly to your legal status. Missing assignments today can create immigration problems tomorrow.
If you’re balancing work, deadlines, and CPT, this is the reminder you need: school is not a formality — it’s the foundation keeping your opportunity alive.

Episode 7
People see the U.S. tech job.
They don’t see the stress behind it.
Full-time work. Classes. Assignments. Immigration pressure. Constant anxiety.
Day 1 CPT doesn’t just change your visa status — it changes your entire lifestyle.
05/27/2026
“Adjustment of Status” in the U.S. may no longer be as straightforward as before.
In a major immigration policy shift, USCIS has announced that Adjustment of Status (AOS) — the process that allows immigrants already in the U.S. to apply for a Green Card without leaving the country — will now only be granted in “extraordinary circumstances.”
This update has created serious concern among international students, H-1B holders, OPT candidates, L-1 professionals, and employment-based Green Card applicants. Immigration attorneys believe this policy could force many applicants to return to their home countries for consular processing instead of adjusting status from within the U.S.
What does this mean for applicants?
• More scrutiny on Green Card applications
• Increased uncertainty for F-1, OPT, and temporary visa holders
• Possible delays, travel complications, and family separation concerns
• Officers may now use broader discretionary powers while reviewing I-485 applications
While the policy is still being interpreted, immigration experts are advising applicants to stay informed, maintain lawful status, and consult professionals before making any immigration decisions.
This could become one of the most significant changes in the U.S. immigration process in recent years.
The most dangerous advice international students get. Short-term convenience is NEVER worth long-term immigration damage. Period.
Comment "Approval" for Part 7!
Type. Delete. Type. Delete.
Telling HR about a work authorization delay feels like playing roulette with your career. Honesty might save your job—or it might cost you the offer instantly.
Would you hide the gap, or tell the truth?
Comment “Manager” for Part 6 to see the dangerous advice Priya almost followed.
This tiny 3-day mistake could get you fired—or worse, deported.
A 3-day gap doesn't sound like much until you realize you are legally barred from working. In Priya's case, her SEVIS transferred on Tuesday, but her CPT didn't start until Friday.
That means no logging in, no checking emails, and no "just finishing up a quick task."
Imagine having to tell your American manager that you suddenly have to disappear for three days... right in the middle of company layoff season. Immigration problems rarely stay just immigration problems—they quickly become massive professional risks that threaten your manager's trust and your livelihood.
Tomorrow, I'm revealing why Priya almost made the worst mistake possible by hiding this from her boss.
Comment “Gap” and I’ll DM you Part 5 in advance!
Don’t let one "simple" choice ruin your H-1B chances!
Choosing a Day 1 CPT program isn't just about flexible schedules and fast admissions. If your degree doesn't make sense for your job title, you are walking straight into an RFE (Request for Evidence) trap.
Priya almost made this massive mistake by settling for a Business Management degree for a Backend Engineering role. Remember: Visa officers will connect the dots. If they ask how your major supports your daily tech tasks, will your answer hold up?
The golden rule for approvals? Technical roles require technical degrees. Don't take the easy way out on paper if it’s going to cost you your visa later.
Comment "Degree" below and I’ll notify you when Part 4 drops! You won't want to miss tomorrow's episode about a tiny 3-day gap that almost cost Priya everything.
This will ruin your H-1B in 3 years.
Everyone online will tell you to find the "cheapest and easiest" Day 1 CPT school. Don’t fall for it. What feels like a convenient shortcut today often becomes a massive red flag during your H-1B review or visa stamping years down the line.
Don't ask which school is the easiest. Ask yourself: Can I defend this school in an immigration interview? Comment “School” for Part 3, where I break down how one simple degree choice almost ruined a case.
Panic is your worst enemy when your OPT ends.
Watching brilliant engineers almost lose everything because of bad Reddit or WhatsApp advice breaks my heart. Day 1 CPT isn't a one-size-fits-all magic trick—and picking the wrong school will cost you your visa. Don't make permanent decisions while you're terrified.
Comment “Priya” below to get Part 2, where I expose the biggest red flags of “easy” Day 1 CPT schools.
