Manatee County- If you own a firearm it is your responsibility to maintain positive control over that weapon. Do not leave your guns in unlocked vehicles, or locked ones in insecure parking areas.

Last night I attended the meeting of the Manatee County Republican Liberty Caucus where Sheriff Wells spoke about issues in Manatee County. Of particular concern for Sheriff Wells was the rise in gun thefts and gun crime in the County. And the most common way criminals obtain stolen fi****ms? From the unlocked cars of law abiding citizens. Sheriff Wells has asked us to spread the word that responsible gun owners remove their personal belongings from their cars and lock their doors. We can support the by taking simple steps to reduce crimes of opportunity.
