CAN YOU RECOGNIZE PLANTAIN?
Broadleaf plantain is often found growing in lawns, pastures, farmyards and other
places where the soil has been walked on or compacted.
Look for:
- A low circle of broad, oval leaves
- Strong veins running from the leaf base to the tip
- Smooth or slightly wavy leaf edges
- Tall, leafless flower and seed stalks
- A mild, fresh and earthy scent
Try gently pulling a leaf apart. You may see its tough veins stretch between the
pieces like little threads.
Always identify a wild plant carefully and gather only from clean areas that have not
been sprayed with chemicals.
