“The connection between the students and teachers at Bergen is unmatched,” said Bergen alumnus Ray Parente, ‘20.

Six years after graduating from Bergen, Parente is still involved with Bergenstages as a technical assistant, stagehand, and alumnus. Parente founded the Bergen Alumni Theatre (BAT), an alumni and student-run theatre troupe formed out of the gratitude for the opportunities that Bergenstages gave to its theatre students.

Currently, Parente is starring alongside fellow alumna Christine Dunning, ‘18, and current student Ethen Benell in BAT’s production of “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).” The three actors will perform all of Shakespeare’s plays in an exhilarating and chaotic 97 minutes.

“You have the opportunity to grow and learn everything in your field and find your voice as an artist,” said Parente.

This is especially true for Bergen alumnus Tugay Bozogluer, ‘25, who came from Turkey to play on Bergen’s soccer team!

“I come from a country where soccer is like a religion, so I can confidently say that I love everything about the sport,” said Bozogluer. During his time at Bergen, Bozogluer was the vice president of Bergen’s International Student Association and a board member of Bergen’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

“Set your goals, stay committed, and remember that every day is a new opportunity to improve and shine,” said Bozogluer.
