Harsh inner critic? You are not alone!
Many of us have a harsh inner critic.
We tend to judge our thoughts, feelings, and actions in a negative way that beats us down, exhausts us, and does not motivate us to grow or learn. This can lead to chronic anxiety, imposter syndrome, and depression.
One of the ways to grow in this area is to understand the importance of shifting your mind’s focus from a negative attack on yourself to a supportive assessment that allows for learning and growth.
So many of us constantly think, “I am the problem. Something is wrong with me. I am not capable. I am just not good enough.” This is so painful! And completely untrue! It also does not serve us in any way.
However, learning to review our thoughts, feelings, actions, and outcomes with the mindset of what we can learn instead of how did we screw this up, is a total game changer! When we evaluate with curiosity and desire to learn and grow, this helps us to keep taking action and moving towards our goals.
It takes time and work to stop the blame game and the self-judgment. But it’s worth it to feel less pain and anxiety and to experience more compassion, curiosity, and growth. And the great part is that you can start right now. It may take time to develop a new default mindset, but you can start making positive changes that will help you today!
