📏Practical Math in Action ⚖️ 🧺

One of the unique features of our co-op is our Math Main Lessons—focused unit studies that allow students to immerse themselves deeply in concepts through imagination, observation, and artistic exploration.

This year, 3rd & 4th graders had a Measurement Block, where math came alive through the practical work of everyday life. Students explored how people measured long before rulers and scales existed, using hands, feet, and arm spans to discover the need for standard units.

Through hands-on activities measuring length, weight, and volume, children experienced math as something real, useful, and meaningful. -Baking, using rulers, measuring tape, measuring spoons, cups and balance scales- some of the measuring tools they learned with.

By connecting math to lived experience, students build confidence, competence, and a joyful sense of discovery. 📏⚖️🌿

These Main Lesson studies complement the ongoing math classes our full-time students receive, providing opportunities to engage with mathematical ideas in a deeper, more experiential way. We are excited to share some of their work!

Geometry: Where Beauty Meets Mathematics

Our middle schoolers explore geometry not simply as a set of rules and formulas, but as a study of form, beauty, and discovery.

As students worked, they discovered that mathematics is not only logical but also beautiful. Each construction became a work of art, revealing the harmony and order woven throughout the world around us.

These Main Lesson studies complement the ongoing math classes our full-time students receive, providing opportunities to engage with mathematical ideas in a deeper, more experiential way.

Our co-op offers immersive Spanish classes designed to help students build language skills naturally through conversation, play, music, and hands-on activities!
