History Academy 3 is underway! Saturday, January 18th the next installment of History Academy kicked off with the organization's founder, Elaine Studnicki, talking Flagler County plantations. With a room full of excited history fans, Elaine spent an hour enlightening us all on people and events that have inhabited the lands that we now find ourselves on. Great job!

What a great time we had on the History Academy 2 bus trip. Our three hour tour focused on Bunnell and western Flagler County History and Agriculture. Our tour guides were Elaine Studnicki and Bunnell native and City Commissioner Tonya Gordon. Everyone on the tour got a Flagler County potato! Thank you to Johnston Brothers Farms of Bunnell for those potatoes...fresh out of the ground!

Women's Voting Rights!

We had a great afternoon at the History Academy with our guest speaker Kimble Medley! Kim spoke about national social issues in America prior to the ratification of the 19th Amendment, the historic vote of 1920, and the Flagler County women who made it happen. To learn more purchase her book, shown in the photos.

We had a great History Academy on Tuesday the 12th! Our guest speakers were:

Hewitt DuPont who spoke about the Seminole Wars and their effect on Flagler County.

Preston Zepp who spoke about surviving in Florida when there were no grocery stores, aka how the self sufficient survived.

History Academy! We had a great presentation given today by Tom Duncan on the history of aviation and airports in Flagler County. For well over an hour Tom spoke about airfield locations and their role in mail delivery, recreation, and local, State, and National defense. History Academy founder Elaine Studnicki was the MC. The next History Academy is just a couple weeks away...watch for announcements.
