School of Rock is a growing, passionate community dedicated to enriching lives through performance-based music education. With over 450 schools, and a strong internationally recognized brand, School of Rock is the largest after-school music education provider in the world. We put on shows to teach music!
As an Instructor you will be responsible for all music education-related elements within the lessons and rehearsals, creating a dynamic experience to ensure students are challenged and inspired. The Instructor positively embodies rock and roll and is responsible for creating a valuable student experience that helps our students learn music and life skills. Many of our instructors have broader musical talent as well which we do our best to engage. We work with professional musicians who want to supplement their income by picking up teaching hours. The entire organization is made up of working musicians and we make sure we work around your gigging schedules and tour dates. The part-time Instructor creates a safe and cool environment for students to achieve their musical and creative potential and ensures that each School of Rock student has an exceptional musical journey.
Music Instruction:
🎸Maximize the quality of music instruction including private lessons and shows
🎸Ensure students are learning the fundamentals of music, not just songs
🎸Create and document thoughtful lesson plans
Customer Connection:
🎸Communicate regularly with parents on progress of students after lessons
🎸Interact with parents and students regularly by being visible and accessible in the school
🎸Pitch in during canceled lessons in the overall ex*****on of the program
🎸Assist in rehearsals and basic maintenance in school
🎸Adheres to the SOR Code of Conduct, safety policies, including the Monitoring and Supervision policy.
Skill Requirements:
🎸3 + years’ experience teaching and/or performing music professionally
🎸Knowledge and experience with rock music, including modern rock and pop guitar styles
🎸Ability to read music notation and chord charts
🎸Ability to instruct using our format and method
🎸Strong organizational and customer relations skills
🎸Resourceful and good problem-solver
🎸Ideal candidate is a working musician who also has formal music school training, but not required
🎸Enthusiastic, flexible, patient, and positive demeanor
🎸Passion for teaching all levels of students; kids, teens and adults.
🎸Must pass background check
