✨ OT / Teacher of the Week ✨
This week, meet Jenny () 💜
Jenny is a school-based occupational therapist with a B.A. in Psychology and a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.
•Her main focus with kids: building skill and independence through meaningful, school-based activities, while prioritizing regulation and sensory needs. For one student that’s opening a pencil box or writing legibly. For another it’s tying shoes, or being able to attend to a task in whatever way is functional for them. Every kid gets their own individualized goals.
•Her favorite way to get there? Games and play. As Jenny puts it — OT should never feel like a chore. A round of Perfection is quietly working fine motor skills, visual motor skills, regulation, and so much more. 🎲
•And her one piece of advice for parents:
Be neurodiversity-affirming and accepting. Embrace your child’s differences, presume competence, and listen to what they communicate — in whatever form that takes.
❗️Go give Jenny a follow 💜

✨ OT / Teacher of the Week ✨
This week we’re in the kindergarten classroom with Nichole (NICHOLE | Kindergarten Teacher) 🖍️
•Nichole holds a B.S. in Elementary Education & Special Education and teaches kindergarten — the year where so much of it clicks into place.
•Her focus: helping young learners build strong foundational skills through engaging, hands-on learning. Fine motor development, early literacy, math, social-emotional learning, and fostering independence through play-based, developmentally appropriate activities.
•Her go-to activity? Play-Doh Name Builder 🌈 Students roll, pinch, and shape Play-Doh to form the letters in their names. It strengthens hand muscles, improves fine motor control, builds letter recognition, and preps them for handwriting — all while it still feels like play.
•And her reminder for parents: learning doesn’t have to look like worksheets. Play-Doh, blocks, coloring, cutting with child-safe scissors, cooking together, sorting household objects — same foundational skills, way more fun. Keep it playful and they’ll learn through play.
❗️Give Nichole a follow for a real look inside a kindergarten classroom that gets it 💛

✨ Introducing: OT / Teacher of the Week ✨
Every week we’re handing the mic to the people doing the real work with little hands — the occupational therapists and teachers building skills one session, one classroom, one kid at a time.
🌟First up: Lauren (Lauren, OTR/L, ASDCS) 🍓
•Lauren is a pediatric OT and private practice owner in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, with her MOT from Nova Southeastern. She’s a play-based, neurodiversity-affirming therapist — meaning the “work” usually looks a lot like playing, and that’s the point.
•Her go-to warm-up? Play-Doh. Swipe to see the 4 things a few minutes of rolling and squeezing actually targets: regulation, fine motor, pre-writing, and social skills. 🙌
•And her reminder for parents (slide 5) is one we’ll be thinking about all week: the best toy in the room is often you.
‼️Give Lauren a follow — she shares practical, play-based ways to support development wherever life takes you 💛
