Here’s what’s getting lost in the CYSTEAMINE vs. THIOGLYCOLATE conversation.

There isn’t just one Thioglycolate being used in lash lifting.

Most artists recognize TGA — Ammonium Thioglycolate.

But ETG — Ethanolamine Thioglycolate — is still Thioglycolate.⬅️

It may be ammonia-free, but it is still a reducing agent being used to break disulfide bonds❗️

And adding ETG to a Cysteamine formula doesn’t suddenly make the Thioglycolate disappear — or make the Thioglycolate gentler simply because Cysteamine is also in the formula.💯

This matters when you start looking at some of the protocols being taught today.

Step 1 is applied.

Then it’s removed from the tips while the rest of the lash continues processing.

The tips are cleansed.

Another product is applied.

Why?

Before assuming it’s simply part of a technique, look at what’s actually in the Step 1 being used.🤔

If you chose Cysteamine because you wanted to move away from the negatives you’ve experienced with Thioglycolate, make sure your “Cysteamine system” isn’t putting Thioglycolate right back in.
