Paducah Innovation Hub Health Science students recently visited Mercy Health-Lourdes Hospital and Mercy Regional EMS to explore the many careers that keep healthcare and emergency medical services running.
Students had the opportunity to learn directly from professionals about their roles, responsibilities, and the different career pathways available in healthcare.
A huge thank you to Mercy Health- Lourdes Hospital and Mercy Regional EMS for welcoming our students and helping them connect classroom learning with real-world career opportunities!

Paducah Public Schools sees your child's 𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙖𝙡.

That's why the district creates an environment where students can try, test and become who they're meant to be in the classroom, on the field and out in our community.

Construction of the Paducah Public Schools solar field project is in its final phase. The project began with the demolition of the old Forest Hills School in March 2026. The solar field’s construction is funded by an $875,000 Department of Energy grant received in the fall of 2024.

At the February meeting of the Paducah Board of Education Superintendent Donald Shively said the solar field, which will feed into the Paducah Power System grid, will provide a practical learning experience for students.

“There’s a revenue source for us, but really the focus is on teaching electricity,” Shively said. “Engaging kids in electrical engineering, becoming electricians, and having a real-world site to take them to for hands-on learning. It’s right in Forest Hills, so that’s four minutes from here, and it’ll be our real-world teaching spot. We got awarded this grant in the fall of ‘24, and when you think through what’s going on at the DOE site with not only nuclear enrichment, but now the AI data center that looks to be announced here in the next few weeks, all of that revolves around electricity.”
